Bose Wave Radio/CD - Sound from only one speaker

Couple problems

First - There is only sound coming from one of the speakers....I took apart the system, and plugged each speaker into the opposite audio port, and both speakers are functioning correctly (sound from each speaker when plugged into the right speaker port) but the left speaker port only has noise no audio at all. Any idea what this could be?

Second - The CD player doesn't work anymore, I am pretty sure its the laser part so not a big deal, i want it more for the radio at this point.

But the speaker thing is bugging me, anyone had this problem, or anyone know how to fix it?

Thanks, Corey

Re: Bose Wave Radio/CD - Sound from only one speaker

Sounds like the audio transformer, but it's difficult to tell because Bose will not release their schematics or parts lists, effectively giving them a monopoly on repair of these sets. On their web site,, they offer to repair most Wave sets for $100 or give $200 credit towards the purchase of a new Wave. Before you spend the big bucks though, you might want to check out the new HD radios. Better sound and MUCH lower prices than the Bose.

Wave radio comes on randomly

Random is truly a difficult problem to solve, if no pattern of failure can be detected. It sounds as though the alarm may be at fault. Is the alarm on and set to radio, CD, or beep? If radio, that could pinpoint the problem. If you have another, mechanical alarm, use it for a couple nights with the Bose Wave alarm off. If the Bose still acts up, then it isn't the alarm. Try unplugging the unit, waiting at least 30 seconds, and plugging it back in, which will cause you to need to reset the alarm. Alternately, remove the Bose cover and blow out dust. I find the Bose susceptible to dust as a cause of malfunction, which may point to the cause being the compact design of the unit. Good luck.

How to connect tablet to bose radio

This can be relatively easily achieved using a 3.5mm stereo plug to 2 x RCA plug lead, available from most electronics stores at modest cost, to connect the headphone socket of your tablet to the 'Aux In' connection on the wave radio.

Be careful not to turn up the volume on the tablet too high or you will get audio sound

Can't get video to work so bose works with tv sound

We fixed it. We had everything hooked up right, but - stupid us - we didn't turn the sound off on the TV. Once I turned the TV's sound setting to off, I flipped the speaker switch a few times on the Bose remote, then turned up the volume on the Bose and it worked.

No sound when playing cd

What's cooking!? I too occasionally experience a similar problem with the RCA RS2042. When switching to the CD source, I receive sound from one speaker, while the other is faint. I have found that if you open the back and fotz around with the speaker connections (the system, not the speakers themselves), it will correct the problem. Have patience! Take care. -D
