Akai PT5598 rear projector TV

My tv, which has always worked great, suddenly lost its picture (as if the tv had been turned off). We have sound, can change channels with the remote, but simply don't have a picture. Any suggestions on what may be the problem?

Same problem--At just over two years old, my Akai PT5598HDIX suddenly lost the picture, but the sound is still functional. Customer service stepped me through the reset procedure (unplug for ten minutes then try it again). That didn't work so she told me to connect a DVD play to see if the television could display that image. No such luck. Next move was to try to order the service manual, but the web page warned that it wouldn't ship right away. I canceled the order pending a reply from customer service on how long they think it will take.

My PT5598HDIX picture went out. A couple of wavy thin lines appeared for about 2 seconds and then lost the picture. I get the normal sound when I change channels still, but get no picture either through cable or antena. I unpluged it for overnight but that did nothing. I tried the menu and even the picture perfect but recieve no visual at all. I would like to repair it myself if I knew what it was. I feel it might be expensive to fix. Any help would be greatly appreaciated. Thanks,

Thanks for the response, Willtab. There are no unusual noises at all. I spoke with someone else with the same problem, and he determined that he had a bad zener diode on the power supply board which also took out a electrolytic capacitor in parallel with it, but replacing it didn't help and the new zener soon went bad. I checked the same components on my unit and no voltage on the 5.1V zerer. I'm guessing that if someone finds the root of this problem we will all be able to get our sets working again. It sure would be nice if Samsung would help.

Usally when this occurs your looking at high voltage problem. flyback, horizontal, crt issues, do you hear any high voltage static or cracling when you turn it on or off

Look for any jammed buttons on the remote or on control panel. Try changing the input device to something that you are sure, works.

Toshiba 26LV610u TV with no sound on one channel

If you have lost sound on only one station and are using cable or an antenna directly to the TV. Look in the audio settings as most likely the SAP mode is turned on. If the TV detects a SAP signal even if there is no audio this is what you will end up with.

TV or Satellite Box Problem?

Do you have a VCR or DVD recorder? If yes, set it to record what you are watching. After a "blackout" rewind the tape and review it. If there is a blackout on the tape, the problem is the sallite box, if not, it is the TV! QED
