I have a 1994 Mercury Cougar, And one day i was driving down the road. And when i got around 4000 RPM'S in 2nd (In Drive) It goes to neutral. So whenever I'm in drive i get around 4000 RPM'S It hits neutral. Can you help me?

corrided eyelet or loose grounding bolts.
I would check the rear sway bar links first.This is what keeps the car from going all over when turning and on bumpy roads.This is not an expensive fix.The control arms are a lot more.
I don't believe it will hurt anything to use it in the city unless it says not to in the owners manual. Over drive is ment to be used for highway driving. Myself i don't use it in the city just on the open road.
the fuel filter is either blocked or installed in the wrong direction.the rotor and distributor cap are fine. swop the fuel filter around and try again.
