What would cause my pc to turn on but not boot in fact all fans in the tower stop spinning cept for the psu and video card and the video card fan spins alot faster than normal at a point you can hear

Hi Chuck
sounds to me like your machine is not finding something required to boot. I would start by cleaning and rebuilding the machine which will hopefully discover a component such as the hdd or graphics card which is not plugged in correctly. Are you getting any bleeps when the machine is powered up? Any display appearing on the screen? Hope this helps, if there are any other signs of power e.g. display let me know as it could help diagnosis.

Dvd doesn't work in PC

Check if autorun is active. In Windows 7, this is found by Start > Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > AutoPlay. (In previous versions, it is in a similar location under the Control Panel.) The next thing to try is cleaning the lens if you can. Open up the computer and check if the data cable is loose (either from the optical drive or the motherboard). If these don't work, replace the optical drive. (Internal optical drives are about ~$20-30 for DVD R/W.)

I hope this helps.

Microphone suddenly stopped working

Try uninstalling and reinstalling your sound card driver. Also do the same for any software that has anything to do with your sound card. If this diesn't work, try restoring to a point before you had the problem. If you is usb and one is standard then it has to be soundcard or software, more then likely it's a driver issue.

Need suggestion for replacement sound card for Dimension 8100

Most sound cards use the PCI bus to install a card. A cheap Sound Blaster Audigy works great for most applications.Under 40 bucks at Walmart.

Dell 3000 Major Sound Issues

Sound is scratchy or doesn't work at all

What have you tried so far, specifically? From the description provided I would try two things. First, I would check on Dell's support site to see if there's a newer driver available for your sound card, as they update them fairly regularly in most cases. Assuming you have Windows XP, this link should get you to their audio driver section for your machine: Do you remember making any system changes from the time the sound worked last until it stopped? Maybe something was installed that caused a conflict with your sound card. Does everything appear ok in the Device Manager? (Start -> Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager) Nothing shows up with a red X or a yellow exclamation point?
