Re: brush not turning

Ez...there may be a second belt or the bearings in the beater are gummed up. Open up the area where the beater is. There should be a belt in there...if it is broken, you'll have to replace. Before you do...turn the beater by hand...if it turns hard, the bearings are jammed up with old grease or debris. You'll have to deal with that.

Check the belt that spins the brushes. Sounds like it broke.

Brush bar does not turn when unit is turned on, belt is intact and no noticeable defects.

LOts of these units have a switch for brush or you have to pull back on the handle to start brush.

Hope this helps Mike

Vacuum brushes won't turn. It still has suction.

That means that you need to replace the belt that turns the roller brush. They naturally stretch and wear and you should replace this belt yearly. Here is the belt you need and the manual which has instructions on how to change it:

Dyson all floor vaccum no suction when hand held wand is turned on... doubled checked for cracks in hose -- none took house off unit to check for blockage --- none.. suction works fine when using as normal...

You need to replace the belt that drives the brush on the underneath side of the vacuum. To do this, you need to flip the vacuum over and remove cover plate. There you will find the broken, or stretched out belt. Remove the brush and place the new belt on the chrome axle. Then put the brush on, rapping the new belt around the brush as you put the brush back in place.

No suction

You have a clog somewhere in the vacuum. Check the hose and the little trap door on the underneath side of sweeper.
Does the brush turn? If not, then the belt that drives the brush is broken. Replace the belt

Drive and brushes stopped

Look for a missing belt that may have burned off or broken. Was there a burning smell at some point before the roller quit turning? If so, the belt must be replaced. I would also look at the ends of the roller to see if there is any string, hair, etc. that might be binding the roller that needs to be removed.

Samsung jet propel 1800w power clean vacuum not sucking in/picking up on main front edge roller whilst the hose / attachment does have plenty of suction when taken out of its dock

Just had the same problem. Turns out to be the belt that spins the brushes...
Check to see if the brushes are spinning, if not, undo the four screws on the plate over the brushes and the belt is easy to get at. Replacement should be available in any spares store.

"brush bar spins erratically"

Belt needs to be replaced, it has stretched to the point that under load, it won't turn the brush roll like it should, so I would advise replacing the belt. And while you are doing that, check the brush roll and make sure the ends turn freely, if not, then replace it also. Then check the dirt inlet while you have the brush roll out.

How to for Belt replacement and solution to suction loss

You say it lost its suction, then you also say this is plenty of suction power, seems you cant figure out the prob. Try cleaning the fan on the suction blower. The blades can get chocked with dust which will give you a reduced suction.
