Re: hp 1300 with added papaer feed tray q2485a
I am a little unclear as to where the problem is but you should check the pick up rollers and make sure they are not smooth, there needs to be some grip to them. If that does not seem to be the problem then the gears may be out of alignment.

Check if the software you are printing from is set to feed from the manual feed (top back) instead of the main paper tray. You can put a sheet of paper in at the top to see if it takes that instead of the main tray, If so, change the settings in the Printer properties to feed from the main tray first.
I have had this problem after printing a large batch of sheets on a heavy matte photo paper. The roller picks up a 'polish' from the surface coating and then fails to grip. I have tried cleaning the roller, with some sucess, but the best solution I have found is to feed through several blank sheets (just page throws in a Word document) of a ordinary 80 gram paper. Doing this between smaller batches of the photo printing seems to keep things flowing.
If the HP LaserJet series printer is experiencing a grinding or odd noise when printing or on power-up, open the printer and remove the print cartridge. Close the printer door. If the noise does not recur with the print cartridge removed, replace the print cartridge. If the noise persists, this may indicate a hardware failure. If possible, isolate and identify the location of the noise and contact a local HP sales and service ofice at the number noted in the product User's Guide . A list of phone numbers can be found at
