"toner empty" problem

I have a samsung sf5100 and it says "toner empty" after I put in a new toner cartridge. I tried a second cartridge and it said the same thing.

    I have a Samsung SF-565P that shows "Toner Empty" on the display.

    I have tried 3 different cartridges, one from a new machine. Still the same problem.

    I fixed my "toner empty" problem by buying an official Samsung Toner at Staples. The people at Fry's sold me a genaric toner cartridge (actually two) and while they claimed to be for the Samsung sf 5100, they didn't work. The official Samsung Toner worked fine.

    put a compatible toner in and now get this message all the time

The samsung sf 5100 toner cartridge has a .05 Amps fuse in it. This gets blowed when you switch on the machine.This is used to reset the page counter and also to inform the machine that you have inserted a new toner. Now this recycled cartriges will not have this fuse and this is the reason why your machine shows TONER EMTY message! If you dont get the same rating fuse, put any fuse of the same size, insert the toner, close the door and just switch on the power and switch off immediately. Then take out the Toner cartridge and remove the fuse. Now your cartridge is ready for use.

On samsung machines some have a fuse that needs to blow when the cartridge is installed. and some have little connectors at the top where the cartridge fits.

If the cartridge has a fuse on it normally the power board is defective and cannot blow the fuse. suggestion is try a different fuse a weaker one you can obtain from any hardware shop. it must be the same size though. If your machine has the connectors remove cartridge and check that they haven't been bent when you installed a cartridge before. If they have turn machine off and try to straighten them but be careful.

If the Toner Low or Toner Empty message does not automatically clear after a new cartridge is installed, do the following to clear the message manually:

  1. Press MENU # 1 9 3 4 in sequence rapidly. The LCD panel should now display TECH.
  2. Press MENU, and then press ENTER. The LCD panel will display Tech Mode.
  3. Press the left arrow (<) button once. The operator panel will display NEW CARTRIDGE.
  4. Press ENTER. The operator panel will display [YES].
  5. Press ENTER. The toner warning message should be gone.
  6. To exit TECH MODE, press MENU # 1 9 3 4 in rapid succession, as if you were dialing a phone number. The operator panel should no longer display TECH.
If problem persists, there may actually be a problem with either the toner cartridge or the SCX-4216F.

  • 1.Log on to your computer and print a test page to the printer. Click on the "Start" button, choose "Control Panel" and then "Printers and Faxes." Right-click on the laser printer, choose "Properties" from the drop-down menu and click the "Print test page" box.

  • 2.Look at the quality of the print on the finished page. If the print is light or faded, the ink cartridge is probably empty or at least empty enough that it should be replaced.     Toner empty & replace

    You printer has run out of toner, you need to purchase a new toner cartridge or a re-charged toner cartridge. Re-charged toner cartridges are cheaper that a new one.
    You can get a few more prints out of your empty toner cartridge by removing the toner cartridge out of the printer and shake it, don't tilt it on the end, just shake it in a horizontal position and then put it back inside the printer.
    You should be able to get several more printer pages.

    Put in second toner and machine is still saying toner empty

    If you are using refilled cartridges those errors are common, Samsung has an eeprom on the cartridge keeping track of usage and you need a new chip from the refillers. If you are using OEM cartridges you need to clean the contacts inside the machine that the cartridge connects to and wipe the contacts on the cartridge before installing, Otherwise a shop repair for the CRUM circuits.

    Samsung sf5100 fax How do i replace the toner

    Open front cover,then pull out toner and in the middle you will see a tiny fuse. Take it out and put a new one in. Put back toner,close everything and let it run.

    I have a feeling that it is a re-manufactured or compatible cartridge??
    There is a fuse that needs to be replaced on this unit. it blows when the cartridge is installed to reset the machine. If the fuse has not been replaced or is defective the machine will not recognize the new unit.

    does the display come up as "toner empty x"? what is the last character after the toner empty ?

    a few seconds after turned on?
    after a half hour ?

    in the first case it indicates a problem most likely with the fuser.
    in the second case it might be on a timer.

    Samsung SF5100 has a loud buzzing noise

    Hi there you might have a faulty toner cartridge is it a original or has it been refilled? I suggest to install a new toner cartridge and hopefully that will cure the fault. If this dosen't there maybe a small piece of paper stuck in the cartridge or after the toner cartridge within the heat section open the back of the machine (the jam door) and check there is no paper.

    If the printed document is getting stuck just after the toner cartridge it will most likely to be the heat section will need replacing.

    Samsung scx 4216f all in one printer

    Searching on Google on how to access the fuse I found a page that showed you how to reset the counter without replacing the fuse. It was simple, access the TECH menu and select NEW CARTRIDGE. Here are the instructions:
    [menu] - [#] - 1934 - [menu]
    Then select “NEW CARTRIDGE”

    Restart Printer to get out of the TECH menu.
