Question about Epson Stylus Photo 2100 InkJet Printer

Epson Stylus photo 2100

The ink out light came on as did the Epson instruction to change cartridge. I changed the cartridge and the light stayed on and the computer tells me I'm out of ink. There is an ink low warning on another cartridge so I've changed that as well. still no change. So I've replaced the cartridges and tried cleanin the printer. At the moment I've got the printer cover off and I can't see anthing wrong.
I have a mix of Epson and compatible cartridges, the suppliers tell me that should not make any difference.

I have exactly the same problem, but it appeared when replacing an empty epson cartridge with another epson cartridge. I then tried with a non epson cartridge and all give the same error - ink out!

Highly possible that the "compatable" cartridges are not really compatable or that Epson has updated software or firmware to keep them from working. Try replacing with Epson cartridges or see if the non-OEM brand seller has a resetting device so the printer sees those cartridges as full.

(Some) Third party cartridges are also notorious for having chips that do not align, make proper contact or the chips themselves do not work properly. At least that is what I have read several times on printer forums. I think quality control is sometimes poor. They are usually cheap for a reason.

I am not saying that they are all bad but this particular brand (?) probably has some that are.

Change ink tank using "How to..." at Epson status monitor. Check contactor that connected to ink tank chip at carriage. Other possibility is CSIC board (behind the contactor)

Changed from cartridges to cont. ink system. Now

Hi Dave,

Chances are the problem is that you haven't removed the travel plugs that allow air into the reservoir part of your CIS. This is vital because the air needs to replace ink used up in printing and if it can't do this the air creates something of a vacuum that holds back the ink.

Also worth checking that you haven't got any crimped (folded) tubing or clamps that are still engaged that shouldn't be.

Hope that helps..

How do you change the black cartridge in the printer epson stylus nx115

Here is the Link showing instructions below. If you find this helpful, pls rate me.

Replace Ink Cartridges
Your Epson Stylus NX110 Series and its software will let you know when an ink cartridge is low or expended.
If ink is low, the ink light flashes. You can continue printing until a cartridge needs replacement.
If a cartridge is expended, the ink light stays on. You must replace the cartridge to be able to print.

Warning:
Keep ink cartridges out of the reach of children and do not drink the ink.
Note:
If you need to change a cartridge before it or any other cartridges are low or expended, run the Ink Cartridge Replacement utility.

You cannot print or copy when an ink cartridge is expended even if the other cartridges are not expended. Replace any expended cartridges before printing or copying.

Leave your old cartridges in the Epson Stylus NX110 Series until you are ready to
replace them to prevent the print head nozzles from drying out.
When an installed ink cartridge is more than six months old, you may need to replace it if your printouts do not look their best, even after cleaning and aligning the print head.
Follow the instructions in these sections to check and replace your ink cartridges:
Check Cartridge Status
Purchase Epson Cartridges
Replace Cartridges Using a Printer Software Utility
Remove and Install Cartridges

pls rate me. Thanks and Good Luck...

Changing a cartridge low in ink (less than 5%)

Please download the user's manual here: http://files.support.epson.com/pdf/r300__/r300__u1.pdf. The instruction is on page 90. You should be able to open the cartridge cover if you follow the instruction.

The ink cartridges are all separate so you press the cancel button (with no jobs pending) to bring the cartridge holder in to the right place open the holder remove the cartridge and then replace it, let the printer purge the cartridge then your good to go

Ink not empty

You have confused the software in either changing a cartridge when not required or having a chip failure whilst changing multiple cartridges.
Full info on how to get out of this is on my site.

Please go to my website http://www.the-inkstore.co.uk . I have the latest version of SSC Service Utility to download directly onto your computer and instructions on how to use it, what to click on etc etc. Click any of the Epson links if you can't find it, everything you need to know will be there, including printer Firmware resetting which sorts out a multitude of problems.

The 'maintenance required' problem with Epson printers has absolutely nothing to do with which cartridges you are using, it is a built in page counter in your printer firmware, which has a different maximum amount for each Epson model. Don't listen to old wives tales and heresay, we are the experts and it's an Epson scam to cause a lot of people to pay for maintenance or throw their printers away.
I haven't found a model that can't be reset with the latest version of SSC Serve or the manual reset on my site.

For Epson RX500 users there is also a manual reset on my site, as the SSC Serve software won't do it for you.
When using the program & choosing your printer from the list, it may have a weird name with 'x' in the model number, this is because some configurations are for many models in a series. For example, the C46 will be listed as C4x as it is for the C42, C44 & C46 models.

I hope this helps all Epson users to overcome the Epson scam of page counting and locking out until you pay their dealers money for maintenance.

If you like what I've done for Epson users, please show your appreciation by spreading the word and perhaps buying your ink from my site.

Happy trouble free printing
