My camera lens is stuck in the closed position. When I turn the camera on, the motor runs, but nothing happens. I accidentally picked the z740 camera when posting the proplem originally, but the z700 is the camera I have.
If you've dropped the camera you may have damaged the lens housing - which will require professional repair, but the problem you describe is frequently due to
corroded battery contacts inside the camera. Remove the batteries and
wipe the camera contacts firmly with a clean cloth (heavy corrosion may
require cleaning with a fine wire brush, steel wool, or fine
sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery
compartment during cleaning, clean the contacts at both ends of the
batteries, and reinsert them in the camera. This cleaning cures the
problem about 90% of the time, and I hope it works for you.
