I am not able to play a DVD-R on my Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop. They are home vidoes and have been finalized. I have never had any trouble DVDs on my laptop.
What do I need/Or what am I doing wrong.
Ideally, I would like to download and record my DVD on my laptop.

Re: Playing a DVD-R
Your should have 24x CD-RW/DVD (Sony) with your model, if drive is reading well you may be missing DVD rendering software try Power DVD or WINDVD.but still you can only read with the current dive you have its a combo drive that can only read DVD and burn CD's, Recording DVD is not possible.

If it's a DVD movie that you cannot play then you need a special program like powerdvd to run it.
