I have an older amana fridge with freezer on the bottom. It sat for awhile. Now when I run it the condencer and freezer work fine but the fan that blows up to the fridge compartment seems sticky. i wound it around a litttle and it started running. however when the fridge gets to temp and it stops it won't start again. Is it toast? any ideas so i don't have to buy a 135 dollar fan?

I would first suspect that the fan motor shaft just has gunk on it keeping it from starting -- clean & lubricate both ends of the motor.
If this doesn't solve the problem, it's the motor start capacitor -- could be inside the motor housing or could be outboard, connected to it via the wiring harness. A capacitor is a lot cheaper than a fan...
