follow the 2 sets of wires off the yoke. one goes to the horizontal sweep section and the other goes to the vertical. the drive ic with the metal tab is blown.that is what drives the vertical deflection. there is a few capacitors there. 1mf at 160v and .47 at 160 and 2.2mf at 50v on most sylvania sets . if the plastic on the top of the capacitor is shrunk,it is getting hot and is no good.that can cause a loss of sweep or foldover.99% of the time it is the vertical output ic that is gone.
Your TV has vertical fold problem. Just check all the electrolytic capacitors. On checking, most of them may look good. But on circuit, when energised, will show problems. So it is best to replace all of them once and check. Please check the electrolytic capacitor connected to the vertical power supply [usually comes from the secondary supply section of the Line Output Transformer], first, and replce it. It may be a 1500Mfd or 2200mfd. Check it first by replacing a new one. In most foldover cases, this service will solve the problem. email@example.com
This is due to vertical deflecton problem, there is some capacitors that has gone bad and need replacing. It might just be one cap rated at 100uf 35 volts. This is called vertical foldover eventually the top will fold over or you will get a 4" black border on the top of the scrn.
This is caused by a defective capacitor in the vertical circuit. If you can solder, you should be able to fix this your self. Let me know if you wish to attempt the repair and I will supply additional details and instructions.
sound like a bad capastor. This is called foldover. Could be the main ones in the power supply dont know for sure but that is whare i woul start. If youdont know how to fix then take to a shop for repair.
Get a new hard drive put into the system, with the cd's that came with the system, restore the laptop back to factory defaults and then after that the F12 function should work and windows will go back to working as well.
If you have a picture but the top is folded over, your vertical IC is probably good and you need to replace the pump-up capacitor next to the IC. When the pump-up cap (typically a 47 or 100uF 35V cap) is open then the picture will have white lines and foldover at the top. The typical vertical output IC is the LA7838, but I am not familiar with exactly which output IC your set uses.
The picture on your TV screen is driven from the center to the top and bottom of the screen by the vertical drive circuit. The fact that you can see the entire picture means you have a problem called foldover. This is caused by a failure in the vertical drive circuit where the vertical saw signal is altered by a component failure within the vertical drive circuit. You cannot solve this problem but any good repair shop should be able to correct the problem at a reasonable cost.
