F 02 fault in Panasonic NV-S85B

I have just got my camcorder out to playback some tapes prior to editing them and converting the results to DVD.
I am getting a F 02 fault and the picture, when it does run, is very jittery,

I have given it a blow out with 'Clean-Aer', and tried to run my Scotch cleaning tape to no avail.

Anything I can do or is this a workshop job.

BTW, I last used the camcorder in Singapore about 2 years ago.

SOURCE: no video or audio in playback mode

I Had a similar problem with my 8600. Most likely the camera
is also no longer recording. There were two problems I found,
either one could have caused the problem. 1) the 8mm tape was not
actually moving through the record/play head. With modern cameras. there are no indications that the tape is actually moving.
2) the record/play head is dirty. What I did was remove the
side plate that covers the tape cassette to allow me to verify that
the tape was moving properly. After that, I removed the tape, removed the battery, and used isopropyl alcohol and a q tip
to clean the head. I imagine there are cleaning tapes that one
can buy to do this as well. though I doubt they work as well as
a q tip. THere are two screws that hold the cover on.

When I playback my videos, the picture is obscured by a series of thick black lines

Just to clarify, does the footage look something like THIS?

If this is what you are experiencing, it is a result of "Dirty" heads.

If you have a head cleaning tape, run this through as per instructions.
If you don't have one, buy one.
This should fix it.

Please do not hesitate to let me know if you have any further questions.

Kind regards

How do i download my tape to my computer so i can put the images on dvd. my camcorder is an old panasonic nv-rx10eg with a small cassette

Install a capture card (Firewire card) in PCI slot.
Install a video editing software in PC.
Capture video in PC and edit as per requirement.
Go to 'share' or 'make movie' option to render the edited video.
Make DVD with that rendered file.

Mode for playback of older 8mm tapes using Sony DCR-TRV730 ?

In 1990s Sony camcorder records movie in analog format so playing in digital camcorder like DCR-TRV730 doesn't mean it will be converted in digital format and you can not import file in PC for editing purpose. You will get analog signal while playing back old cassettes.

Regarding SP, LP speed, its decided at time of recording. Camera sens SP or LP automatically in playback and set itself accordingly.

If you want to convert old cassettes into digital format, connect our camcorder to DVD recorder and burn DVD which is digital format, copy DVD files in to PC and do desired editing.

hi, if you have stuck the head cleaner in and this has not removed the black lines then the head might either need a thorough clean or may be damaged.
