Hardware issue, i strongly suggest you take it back to the shop, replace with warranty if still available or get a pro to look at it. has this happened recently just randomly or since you have had it?

Slow start up and shut down

Hello,

You didn't mention what version of Windows (Is it Windows, or is it Linux / other?) that you are using. For laptops in particular, windows sometimes gets confused as to which power saving state that the laptop should be in.

Next time that windows is running, you should see an icon of either a battery, or of a power plug in the area next to the clock (lower right corner). If you LEFT click on this, there will be a list of various power schemes that are available. MAX BATTERY will reduce the processor speed the most, while ALWAYS ON turns off power saving altogether, and allows the laptop to run at full speed.

If your fan always seems to be on, or seems to be cycling on and off rapidly even though you are doing little with the computer, then you might need to have the fan and heatsink cleaned out (consult a computer shop). When the processor starts to run hot, the motherboard will begin to slow it down regardless of the power scheme.

You might also be looking at a program that is loading during startup (did you just happen to install Open Office by chance?) that also takes a while to unload while shutting down. Consider what you have recently installed, and check your startup menu (click start >> programs >> startup ) to see what is being loaded there.

Hi, my Acer Aspire 5633WLMi has started to turn itself off automatically after about an hours use (of just browsing on the internet) I've had the laptop for 2.5 years. I always have it plugged into the...

Hi, from what you are describing it seems like it is not power related, it could be overheating problem, the best thing you can do is to clean the airways in the bottom of your laptop especially under the fan with a compressed air can, you can find the air can in any electronics store just follow the instructions on the can and be carefull not to break the fan fins with lots of air presser, start slow and clean all air ways then give the computer a try... hope that helps

I have an Acer 5670 Laptop, I replaced the HDD with a new SATA drive and when I powered up the laptop, the Video card fan starts, the CD drive cycles once, the drive light flashes 3 times, then it stops....

Sounds like it. Try taking out the hard drive, disconnect all usb devices and anything attached, and try to run POST again...Being a laptop, there is not a whole lot else you can do if it won't POST. YOu can try swapping in some different RAM that is known to be good also.

Computer won't start

When the screen is black, try pressing Ctrl + Alt + Del; a soft reset should kick it back into gear. Did the laptop shut down unexpectedly due to power loss/overheating/etc..?

Hi - What you see is the fan that cools the main processor:

4b1bfcb.jpg

It will spin to cool the processor when it gets hot so depending on the surrounding air temperature it may not spin. Usually you can feel it spin up briefly when the machine turns on, try placing your hand over the vent when you switch on. If the laptop seems to be running hot & the fan does not spin then you need to get it looked at as overheating will cause a failure in time.

Please take a moment to rate this solution & let us know if the information given was useful to you - Good Luck!

Dell Latitude C510/610 wont turn on

I have more of a suspicion of the CPU fan than the hard drive, right now. If a hard drive goes bad, the system will wake up, go through it's POST (Power On Self Test), and then tell you there's an issue with the hard drive. If the CPU fan goes bad, the system turns on, sees an RPM of 0 on the fan, then turns back off. That hypothesis also fits in with the slowness you were seeing. If a CPU starts to overheat (because the fan isn't running well), it will start to throttle the clock speed down in an attempt to produce less heat.
Unfortunately, it sounds like your laptop may be in need of a professional repair facility.
