Question about Lexmark X6170 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Scanning Problem I'm finding that when I scan documents, the scanner is eliminating the margins when it scans.  Is there anyway to stop this?  I want the whole document, with margins to be in PDF format.

Is there a way to define scan area settings in CapturePerfect v3 to allow for different margins when scanning front-side and back-side of a paper? I.e. to compensate for differences in left and right...

Interesting question. I don't think there is a solution from CP3. It is logical to assume that front and back sides are of the same size and hence there is no provision in the software. One option is to scan once for say top side(left margin) and change the settings (select reverse scanning, i.e, bottom side only) and alter the margin as required, nevertheless you will have to scan twice. You can also crop after the images are generated separately, but it is difficult to separate odd and even images, assuming there is a large number.

Under CapturePerfect3, you can choose to deskew the scanned image while scanning itself. Also select 'Image only" radio button instead of 'Guide Plate'. The software will remove black borders around the image.

How can I scan a document then print it with larger print?

You can scan a document or photo or negative film etc.. using a scanner, there a many types of scanners which you can choose as per your requirement. There are dedicated scanners, all in one integrated scanners, or two in one like that.. but if you need it for your professional use or daily use, it's better to get a dedicated scanner not "all in one" since with all in one if the copier fails or fax fails, the scanner will also fail because they are related and built-in integrated.
The process of scanning a document is as follows;
  • > Place the document on the scanner's flatbed.
  • > Press scan button or scan using the integrated software from the computer.
  • > Customize the scan settings/quality.
  • > Save the scanned documents.
Printing a document to a larger size is different, you can use photo editors like photoshop, paint.net etc..where you can changed the resolution as well as the size of the image. It's best to change the size or resolution before you give the print command. Or you can also change the print size with the paper size or print size.
If you still need more help, please let me know with more details. I am ready to assist you.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

I'm having trouble scanning B&W documents with my Epson V300. The edges of the letters in the text are jagged and hard to read and there is what appears to be a crease or fold in the document when the...

You have two options for scanning text. You may explore both of them and see which is better for you. Either way, you will have to make friends with manually changing the scanning settings, because simple presets often are not suited for every case.

First is to use Grayscale mode, and a minimum resolution of 200dpi. This should give you satisfactory text quality. If you want to print the text afterwards, 300dpi would be even better. You may want to increase contrast, to get the letters more defined and eliminate most of the background toning.

Second is to use Black and White (monochrome) mode, but in this case you need to set the resolution higher, preferrably to 600dpi. Also in this case you will have to play with the Black/White threshold in order to eliminate background "dirt" appearing as black artefacts.

If you scan the documents in order to process them with OCR software, usually the OCR application will give you suggestions on how to set the scanning parameters to obtain good results.

How do I scan a document please?!

Hello,
you can a document using a scanner.
1. you have to find a SCANNER machine that is responsible in scanning the files you want to scan.
2. Then after you find a scanner, next thing to do is to place the document file in the scanner and make sure that your scanner is properly connected and turn on.
3. Click and run the software that is bundled with the scanner to scan the document and then you have to set the path where your scanned file is to be place.
4. Then after the scanning process finished then click the save button to save the scanned files.

Seperates the pictures from the text when scanning

Stop scanning as an OCR. Scan as a PDF or photo and it will scan it exactly as it was on the scanbed.

When scanning for OCR OPTICAL CHARACTER RECOGNITION it is translating the text for notepad and saving the pictures at the end or in separate files.

Scanning not picture perfect. In scanning a letter - the symbol on the letterhead did not print correctly nor did the signature part. The left margin also increased by 1 character. Bert

It is possible that teh letterhead is too light that the scanner cannot see it any longer. can you try another document and see if the same problem occurs. If not then adjust the scanning settings.
