2 Short Beeps Your computer has memory problems. First check video. If video is working, you'll see an error message. If not, you have a parity error in your first 64K of memory. First check your SIMM's. Reseat them and reboot. If this doesn't do it, the memory chips may be bad. You can try switching the first and second banks memory chips. First banks are the memory banks that your CPU finds its first 64K of base memory in. You'll need to consult your manual to see which bank is first. If all your memory tests good, you probably need to buy another motherboard. 3 Short Beeps Basically the same thing as 2 beeps. Installed 2 g memory in pavillion but only detect 512 why?

Check the advanced boot options.
1. Go to Start, in the search bar type msconfig and press enter.
2. System Configuration window will open on the screen.
3. Click on tab named "boot".
4. Click on "Advanced Options" and uncheck the box for "Maximum Memory".
After booting to Windows, check the memory displayed in system properties. 32bit versions of Windows will not recognize more than 4GB of memory. Systems with integrated video subsystems will reserve memory for video, futher reducing the available amount shown in the OS.

Long beep sound after laptop start ion hp nx9010

1 Long Beep: Memory problem
Explanation: There is a failure of some sort related to the system memory.
Diagnosis: The first bank of memory probably has a failure of some sort; this is usually just a physical problem such as an incorrectly inserted module, but may also mean a bad memory chip in a module. It is possible that there is a failure related to the motherboard or a system device as well.

ABS light is on. It needed a left front wheel bearing which I replaced. How do you reset the ABS light.

Here is the procedure for clearing ABS codes, the connector is up under the drivers side dash, it may be taped to another harness so just rip/cut the tape and pull down until you can see what your doing. Just FYI, the ABS module only holds 3 codes max in its internal memory even if there are 4 or more codes existing. Those other existing codes will not show up until you fix a concern, clear the codes, and if the light is still on all that means is that you just made room for another code to show up. As long as you only have the one code, you'll be fine. But if you had 3 codes, and you clear them, all the codes for the problem you fixed will be gone but now new codes may be there.
I hope this info helps!~subyguru~Clearing Memory

  1. After calling up a trouble code, disconnect diagnosis connector terminal 8 from diagnosis terminal.

  1. Repeat 3 times within approx. 12 seconds; connecting and disconnecting terminal 8 and diagnosis terminal for at least 0.2 seconds each time.
NOTE: After diagnostics is completed, make sure to clear memory. Make sure only start code (11) is shown after memory is cleared.

Dell D510-won't come on

First try starting without the battery, just AC. Still nothing, then try removing the memory and placing one or the other chip in and starting, then change out chips. Both the battery and memory are common causes of a no start with Dell machines. If neither of these work, then it's a problem with the motherboard. Take it in for diagnosis, they will be able to tell you exactly where the problem is and if it's a replaceable component.
