Re: 60CT4 with Digital

Sadly due to age of the flashgun.. the 60 is only in A or M mode (camera and Flash settings).. while this defeats the purpose of TTL (and al its variations).. Its slower to use at times but from a lot of professionals I have spoken too.. there is a high percentage that uses manual/Apeture mode more than TTL.

I have the 60CT4, Nikon D300 (even a Canon 20D) and while I also use the 58AF1 for Nikon and a 54MZ4i (for both cameras).. the 60 is my workhorse.

Ttl connection to a metz 60ct4 or 45 ct-5

You have to use a special cable adapter for each type of camera.
These old flash units do not have adapters for current digital cameras. For old cameras the only place to get the adapters, is on ebay or from KEH.

I have Meltz 60 CT4 flash and want to use on my Nikon D70 or other Nikon digital camera, is there any adapter or cable available from Meltz? if there is one, whats the part Number? Thanks.

The easiest way is to use a standard Metz sync cable and connect that to the pc flash connector on the Nikon. This is the way I use them on my D200. The sync cables are available on EBay pretty cheap.

My Metz mecablitz 60CT4 has two direct cables connecting the battery to the flash gun. One works fine. But the other one "activates" the flash when I turn onthe battery (the f-stop, ft, and ISO numbers...

I repair these baby.
Only one High Voltage Cable can be use not two. Is your HV Cable or your PC Sync Cord that is defective? Do you have a DVM?

60ct4 for nikon d90 how to use

Hi Vilas,
All of those cables will not do. Your Nikon D90 has no PC Socket. Buy a NIKON AS-15 and then just hook Flash Sync Cable to AS-15.

Yes, the 60CT-4 works with the Pocketwizards.
Yes, they will work by connecting the Metz's cable into the PC of your camera.

To get longer life out of the flash tube, don't use full manual all the time. Like shooting more than 300 in less than 15 mins/day.
Just dail those number down.

Mating Metz 60CT4 to Nikon D80 camera

The 60CT-4 was not made for digital cameras.
It does TTL on film not on CMOS or CCD sensor.

60ct4 metz flash head

Hi Canday, As the connections are OK, it is possible that a lead inside one of the wires is broken. You don't say if it powers up or not, so it is very difficult to give more specific advice or diagnosis. It is a professional unit, so I suggest you take it into a top camera shop for their advice. Good luch, John Hannah

Metz 6ct4 flash head

Are you still having problem with the flash not flashing? Use a DVM (digital volt meter) to measure the battery from the pack. Take the 6 volt battery out from the pack and measure it. A reading of 6vdc or greater is good. Also the for amp. of the battery. Alexander
