Sound sy system not working

I am having asus a8v-vm mother board and amd 3000+ processor.. and os is windows xp professional
my audio device is not working.. i just cannot find out whats wrong.. in device manager it shows legacy audio driver installed and the properties says its working properly.. but when i try to play an audio file it shows `bad sound driver`

i have tried all the usual stuff..reinstalled it , searched the internet for the driver .. but its of no use.. please guide what to do

Recently formatted pc, installed new XP Professional, getting same issue.

I have missed the motherboard Cd for my A8V-VM SE with AMD processors so which are the drivers are to be loaded so as to detect the sound card and VGA

Download the drivers you need from Asus;
http://www.asus.com/Search.aspx?SearchKey=A8V-VM%20SE
Realtek Audio Driver and VIA Onboard VGA Driver.
Once the site above loads you'll need to click on the drop down menu and click on you're operating system.

Good day sir, most likely you need to install the device driver located on the CD that came with your motherboard.

Place your driver CD on your CD drive, Wait for the CD to autoplay.
On the menu click or choose the device you want to install, that is your Audio (usually its high definition audio for the asus motherboard.
Let the setup finish. your done, restart your PC.

No audio output devise is installed

Have you tried reinstalling motherboard drivers. Sound drivers should be part of motherboard drivers, so if you reinstall them everything should work fine. If not please post back here. I hope this helps, Yannick

No sound after reinstalled windows xp pro

Hello,

Yes you will need to re install the audio driver. If you do not
have the original cd for the motherboard, here is a link to the
Audio Driver that you will need.

I installed windows 7 os and my mother board drivers not support that os.help me.my mother board is asus p5rd1-vm. pentium 4 processor 512 ram

Come back on XP or Vista but XP works better.There is no driver for W7 yet.Motherboards manufacturers will provide drivers for W7 when Microsoft will announce that the system(W7) is ready to be sell....Windows 7 is still beta! If Microsoft still provide "UP DATE" for XP why you want to install other OS?

It is better to install windows xp.. because 2003 is not supportting latest mother boards.
only windows xp will solve that problem

ok i have encounterd such a problem myself , it works on some systems but just give it a try , download the "soundmax digital intigrated audio" pack , it comes with audio drivers and all neccesary software
