When I burn a DVD it will not play back properly... mostly pink pixels with some of the picture is OK for flashes. The sound is fine. I have a hp dvd 1170 and am using Verbatim DVD+R 16x speed. I tried...

most every burner has a verification after burn setting. Turn that on for a simple burn, use a high grade DVD and test.
If the verification fails, it is probabbly the laser is failing. You can purchase a cleaner cd but that rarely works.

Hello my samsung sh-s182 dvd -+rw doual very slow burn

First look and see the write speed of the drive. 1x to 4x is slow but recommended by all programs and this is initially the default settings for most programs. You must goto the settings of your dvd burning program and set the burn rate to 16x or higher.

I only can write with 4x maximum while dvd could

DVD burners will only write to the maximum stated.

Also if you are using 4x DVDs then that is all they will burn at without often giving errors when used.

Trying to burn a 4x DVD at lets say 16x can cause burn failure or data corruption.

Cd's on the other hand can burn at lower speeds than they are stated.

To burn DVDs at higher speeds your burner needs to be capable of that speed

Low burn speed

I had the same problem before upgrading my RAM. Seems video burning software like nero are RAM hogs; if you do not have a large amount of RAM then it slowers the burning speed down to a crawl.[ BTW I didn't get maximum burning speeds using nero on a Windows Vista computer until I upgraded to 2 GB RAM] Hope this helps & please remember to rate my answer.

Slow Writer

Hey there dhruvr, your problem is minor. Even though your DVD drive has max speed of 16X, the software you use to burn can vary this according to their default setting. ranging from 4-16 times. You can change these by opening the extra option boxes, when you are burning, or going into the settings for each of your burning programs. You should only have to do this once. It will remember your last setting. Good Luck!

DVD Burner

Even if the burner is very quick, I suggest that you don't try and use it at it's maximum speed, but the lowest. Try 4x, and if it gives you DVDs that work, then you can start working upwards if 4x is too slow for you, untill you find the fastest speed that gives you working DVDs. Also shut down all other programs while burning, especialy heavy ones. If this is not it, and you keep having problems, add a comment. Good luck!
