Garmin StreetPilot C330 can not acquire satellites

I have a Garmin c330 gps. When I turn it on i tries to find a satellite and after a few seconds asks me if I'm indoors. I press "no" and than it asks me if I'm currently in South Carolina (that's where I bought it from) when I press "no" again it continues to search for a satellite but never finds it...
I'm currently outside of the USA but I've put in the maps of the country which I'm in. The software version is 5.7 (the newest)
I guess it got damaged (or something) when I left the USA. I had it in my suitcase which probably wasn't handled with great care ;)

Please tell me what to do with the damn thing! I need it to work.
I saw that some people have the same problem with the same unit, but no one posted any reasonable solution to the problem!

Please, HELP!
Thanks in advance!

Having the same problem. Worked great the first two times we used it. Then it took about 45 minutes the next time to "acquire satellite" and the keep getting message of poor satellite reception which took anywhere from 1 to 10 minutes for it to restore. This happened the first time on a very cloudy day (snowy) so we figured that was the problem. Then it happened the next two times we used it - with the last time being a completely clear day. Obviousely weather not being the problem. Will try the suggestion to reset and see it that works, otherwise - its going back cuz its not much use when you lose directions, especially in a busy city or nearing highway exits!!!

You can try both a normal reset or a master reset and see if either one works for you.
The normal reset button is behind the front bezel. You access it by using your thumbnail under the top part of the bezel and carefully pull the bezel off. Once off you press the reset button on the right side of the front face labeled reset.

Option #2 - Master reset, will lose all data.
With the unit off, use a pencil eraser to depress the bottom right corner of the screen while turning the unit on. Once on, let go of the on button and keep the lower right screen depressed and answer yes to do you want to reset unit and lose all data. Once reset you must allow the unit 45 minutes of good reception to reload all satellite data, moon data, time, etc...

Give it a try, it may work for you.

I've read elsewhere that the Garmin c330s will have trouble acquiring satellites as the batteries wear out, which usually happens around 15 mo. Batteries are soldered in, so replacement requires sending it in to Garmin. I've seen some reports from users who had this problem right out of the box or shortly after purchase.

Garmnin C330 slow to acquire satelites.

Make sure you are not moving. This way it can triangulate better. Wait for it to recognize at least 3 satellites. Then cruise as you wish as soon as it is synced with the satellites.
Also, be sure that you are on an open field with minimal aerial hindrances.

Your problem is normal to all GPS devices. It does take time to acquire satellite signal.

hope this helps!

My Garmin c330 has difficulty acquiring satellites in my new 2009 Camry XLE. Does it have something to do with Bluetooth? Does it interfere? Ever since we bought the 2009 Camry XLE in June, the Street...

The C330 does not have bluetooth capability. Regardless, this has nothing to do with the unit's ability to acquire satellites. Nor should the type of vehicle you purchased, unless the unit is unable to receive due to some feature, like something in the windshield, which is preventing the unit from receiving a proper signal. Does the unit work outside the vehicle?

Aquiring satellites

Are you outside with a clear view of the sky? It should find satellites once the unit is turned on. Does it say "Looking for satellites" or "Acquiring satellites"?

If it is "looking for satellites" then it means that the unit have lost all data (time, date, location). If it is "acquiring satellites" then it have date and time, but not location.

Looking for satellites require a longer setup time (could be as much as 15 minutes). Acquiring satellites is much faster (not more than 2 minutes).

Date and time is updated from satellites once the unit gets a satellite lock.

Failure to acquire satellite

To reset the unit, pry off the silver faceplate.
Turn the unit on using the power button on the right side.
Press the reset button that was hidden behind the face plate.
The GPS unit should restart, and display its software version.
Make a note of the software version in case you have to call customer service.
To acquire satellites make sure the GPS has a clear view of the sky.
