Recommendations? Hello everybody, There have been a lot of burglars in our neighborhood, so my wife and I are interested in buying a surveillance system. We got a pretty good price for this unit, but we are wondering if anyone has recommendations for a better kind? Thanks guys!

Re: Recommendations?

If your burglars DRIVE into your property, then this will work, otherwise get one of the ones that respond to people (and dogs, deer, birds, etc...). We had one of those for 2 weeks--which went off about 70 times a night. This one works good for vehicles. I have it mounted 350 feet from the house.

Re: Recommendations?

I have also had this system for almost two years now. I bought an extra camera with it so that I can view two different entrances to my residence. Once you get the antenna pointed the right way, this system really works well, and the handheld monitor is very sharp and clear (I was quite surprised). I live in a three story building, and need to take the handheld with me to all three floors, so I only use batteries in mine, and I must say, they last much longer than one would think. A set of batteries in the monitor are usually good for 3 or more months.
Now the down side. I didn't realize it at the time, but after I installed this system, my cordless phones started losing calls, and had a lot of static. I replaced the phone system with one that uses the 5.8 GHz frequency, and that problem was solved. However, I found a new problem. About a year ago, I installed a wireless network in my place for my computer system, and this security system interfered with it. I was able to change the frequency in the network, which solved the problem, but most wireless networks don't have this option.
Consider any other wireless items in your household before buying this.

Re: Recommendations?

Hi man,

I've been using this device for a few years and I've been very satisfied. No burglars yet! (Though I don't know if THAT'S what scared them... Might be our big dog, LOL).

Ground fault

That's tough problem to fix with out a decent amount of tech knowledge. Currently, one or mutliple wires that are coming from the alarm panel are "grounded out" somewhere along the line. Basically, the copper of one of the wires is touching something that is taking the voltage to ground. Depending on the size of the facility this could be quite the project. It would be best to hire a techinician who is familiar with solving "ground faults" to resolve for you.

Hello, I wanted to share this article on the uses of mini surveillance cameras and how they can keep your home safe. It's pretty interesting how some of the mini cameras can be made to look like everyday items. Some times we need to record a video or wants to take a beautiful photo of something in a very short time, try this site its very useful, try this link.

Alarm beeps every 5 mins. I have changed battery and problem still persists.

Tell me what brand your alarm is and I can help you with the beeping. Usually if you hit # it will silence the beeping for 24 hours. Something you can try is finding your main control box. Its usually located in the garage or in a closet. It is tan and 6 x6. First disconnect the battery inside the control box by jiggling off the black/red leeds. Then unplug the power supply. Wait five minutes. Reconnect the battery and plug in the control box. This is completely powering your system down and then repowering it up-essentially "re booting." If this does not correct the issue, give me the brand and I can further help you.

A good locksmith can get into this for you. Since it's fire rated, the case is soft or at least thin. A burglar rated safe is solid steel, but a fire rated safe is thin plated with a fire retardant filling.
