Hi lettrujillo,

I'm not sure what you think a reasonable price is, but keep in mind your won't be able to get one new from Gateway. However, it seems that they run from $150.00 up to $200.00 by googling it. I found one on eBay HERE, that seems reasonable. You can alway send it to a repair person to review it, but the cost would be about the same. Last option would be to contact Gateway and ask for a upgrade discount to a new laptop.

Good Luck,

And don't forget to leave a rating,

Thanks Mark

I dropped my gateway and now the computer wont get past the launch startup repair

You might have jolted ram modules ?
Test all power and data leads that attach to your hard drive SATA
the leads from your MOTHERBOARD TO THE HARD DRIVE make sure they have a secure dust free connections and are not faulty. Although it would be very rare for the sata lead to be faulty. Make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd have secure connections and are not faulty Computers need power and data to travel through every working device and continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error

I have a Maxtor personal Storage 3200 external Hard drive. The green light was on but my computer wasnt recognizing it anymore. I took in to a local office depot. They were able to get it to show up on...

Try the manufacturer's web-site: http://www.MAXTOR.com and see if their E-commerce site offers that part-number.
Or, given the part-number on the power-supply, do a search on eBay -- you'll probably find third-party "compatible" power-supplies.

I have a laptop manufactured by acer , model travelmate 3275 WXMi , suddenly stoped work , I took it to one of the computer maintenance shop , they told me there is a short circuit in the motherboard and...

wow.. that's as serious as it gets with laptops... depending how old your laptop is and if it's a few years old.. you may have to think about getting a new one as it may be as expensive (or more) to get the motherboard replacement plus the labor instead of just buying a new laptop.

at least you may still be able to get your data out of your the hard drive: get an hdd enclosure and use that hd as back up for your new laptop.

unfortanetely laptops are not as easy to work with as desktops when it comes to maintenance because most of their designs and physical technology included in them is propriatary so proper servicing it's tricky, more time consuming and therefore more expensive.

My acer needs a new motherboard

you can do it yourself, but its not advisable, if you touch any other circuit boards that plus into it then they will break becuase of the static charge you have in your body. unless you know what you are doing, don't try it.

Power down

I know the original post is over 2 years old but I had the same problem. Here's what happened:

8 months after buying my Toshiba A135 the battery began charging only intermittently. It also would not run without the battery. I put up with it for a month then took it back to Best Buy to get it repaired under warranty. They kept it over 2 weeks then gave it back saying it was the battery, which they replaced. One week later I had the same problem again. Back to Best Buy. The guy at the counter said it was probably the battery, they had encountered a lot of that. I said no, explained it, and gave it over to be fixed. 2 weeks later I got it back. They had reset the BIOS, no hardware replacement. I got it home and it was not fixed. I took it back the next day. They kept it 2 more weeks. They replaced the motherboard. I took it home and...you guessed it the same problem on the day I got it home!!! I took it back with one week left on my warranty. I don't remember what they replaced the last time but I think it was the motherboard again. I got it home (2 weeks later) and THE SAME PROBLEM on the day I got it home. So, the lesson there is that Best Buy computer maintenance SUCKS!!

I called Toshiba to try to get them to fix it for free, and out of warranty. After several frustrating minutes of conversation with an accented person who just kept telling me that my warranty was up, I hung up and called back and got an English speaking person. SHE was very helpful, listened to my problem, agreed to give me a one-time fix ticket. They paid for the postage. When I got my computer back it was mostly fixed.

The problem was the module at the back of the computer where the power cord plugs in. It was defective. They replaced it and it worked fine after that, except that when it goes into sleep mode it will not wake up. I fixed that by turning off all the sleep mode options. BTW, a friend of mine with the same computer is now having the same problem.

Gateway Cx2610

You DO NOT need to replace the motherboard. Laptop jack can be replaced. This place can do it for you, you ship your laptop to them, they replace your jack, then send it back. It costs $99. A lot cheaper than a new motherboard! http://www.800tech.com/ And so you know, I am not affiliated with them in any way.
