Re: dried out ink blockage?

What you can try is the following:

press menu then start black copy then fourtimes arrow-up button. machine will be in maintenance mode. press 7 then 6 then 4 then OK (or start bk copy). machine will refresh the tubes and ph with fresh ink and do some cleaning routines. When finished press 7 then 6 then 3 then OK (or start bk copy). Machine will do a powerpurge. Aftertaht leave the maintenance mode by pressing 9 then 9. Run a quality test print by pressing INK etc.

If you are lucky the ph part for bk will work again.
If not the ph has dried out and cant be fixed anymore. The ph needs replacing.

SOURCE: dried out ink blockage?

Hi, unless you can remove the printhead this is going to be a hard task. If you can remove the printhead, hold it over steam (using tongs) for a couple of minutes. If you cant remove it, then you could try a hot damp cloth, and hold it on the printhead till the cloth cools, repeat 4-5 times and see how this goes

Not printing in black and white from my mp 560

If the black ink injector is blocked by after market ink clogging or drying out of ink in the nozzles, get an eye dropper and put a few drops of ammonia on the ink pad below the ink cartridge. Do the deep clean from the printer control section in the software. If you do not have that feature delete and reload the printer driver from Canon.
You might have to do this on several days in succession. If the blockage is severe. It might not be repairable. If memory serves the ink holder, where the cartridges sit, is replaceable for worst case blockages or burned out injectors. You might get one cheap on Ebay. (Don't buy after market ink cartridges. They do not have the chip that sends information about the ink level to the printer. Without that feedback the printer can refuse to operate at all. )

I have one with stripped gears so all those parts work. The paper carriage will not advance to print in my old printer. But every thing else works.

Why doesn't my black ink work in my Epson WorkForce 600 series after replacing the black ink cartridge?

The Epson printer may only use genuine ink cartridges which contain a chip so that you cannot fill the cartridge with ink or use non genuine ink cartridges.

Inkjet printers need to be used frequently to prevent ink drying out and blocking the print head nozzles.
If the print head cleaning maintenance routine does not clear the blockages, then print head needs replacing, but it may be expensive.
It may be more cost effective to buy a later model and better printer than replace the print head.

Check ink cartridge on right

Yes - if they are not used they will dry up and be unusable.
Unfortunate but you need to replace them.
For future ref - IF they will not be used in 4 - 6 months
pop them out and put scotch tape on the head where ink comes out
and that should keep them good for several months..
I have done that and close to a year later - was fine.
Hope this helps :)

Printer only won't print in black

My printer did that a few months ago. I tried everything to get it printing black but in the end I had to take the ink cartridge back and return a new one. Some ink cartridges dry out when they are being shipped if not stored in proper conditions.

Red ink not coming through

Hi, Epson usually recommend at least 6 cleans of the print head to clear any blockages. However, be warned this can use up a lot of the remaining ink, and may not resolve your issue. You may have dried ink in the magenta tank, and I would suggest replacing the ink if the first solution does not work

Black ink not printing

Having had the same problem on my 425cn Brother with the black ink, I'm told that the solution is hot water. I goes something like this: remove cartridge, place in container with hot water for a while, remove allow to dry completely, replace, perform clean cycle and print test page. Apparently it's imperative to dry completely and stand cartridge upright. The warm water thins the ink, and remove (apparently) blockages. I cannot verify that this works, but will try it this weekend and let you know! If the housing that the ink cartridge can be readily removed, take that out and clean in warm water. Again dry very well before returning. Be care full that ink becomes runny and may leak out of cartridge and make a mess - so work carefully.

Black Printing

Possibly the printer head needs replacing. That's the actual black 'box' the inks fit in. I've generally found they last no longer than about 18 months. You can try cleaning the contacts with an alcohol pad before forking out the $50 odd dollars it costs for a new head. If you have some time on your hands you could also try reinstalling the drivers - Good luck
