Re: Alpha seting of dfx 8000 printer

The purpose of this adjustment is to set the PG offset value in accordance with the nose dimension
of the printhead. (For details, refer to Chapter 2.)
The offset for the nose dimension is represented by the adjustment value “ALPHA.” The “ALPHA” value
is stored in the memory on the main board, so the PG adjustment mechanism can read the value as
needed. Be sure to perform the adjustment when required. If this adjustment is not performed correctly,
the platen gap will be incorrect, the paper could be caught by a head pin, or, in the worst case, a head
pin could break.
NOTE: The printhead adjustment value is written on the front of the head unit (refer to Figure 4-2). After
the printhead is attached, the value cannot be seen. Be sure to write down the value before
attaching the printhead.
Step 1: Connect the AC cable. Mount the ribbon cassette, and load paper into the front tractor.
Step 2: Turn the printer power on while pressing the LINE FEED, MICRO FEED (V), and PAPER SELECT
switches (Be sure that the top cover is closed. Do not open it until you turn the printer power
off.), then wait until the buzzer rings five times.
Step 3:
Step 4:
Step 5:
Step 6:
Load the paper by pressing either the LINE FEED or PAPER SELECT switch, then wait until
the PAPER OUT lamp goes off (approximately 15 seconds).
Press the ON LINE switch.
Press the MICRO FEED (A) switch the number of times indicated by the value written on the
front of the printhead.
l The buzzer rings each time the MICRO FEED switch is pressed.
l Press the MICRO FEED (A) switch to increment the value.
l Press the MICRO FEED (V) switch to decrement the value.
l The value range is O to 10.
To confirm the value stored, press the FORM FEED switch so that the value is printed.
l If the value is incorrect, return to Step 5.
. When the value is correct, go to Step 7.
Step 7: Press the ON LINE switch and confirm that the buzzer rings five times. The printer prints the
final value stored. If the value is correct, turn the printer power off.

I am working on a DFX8000 that has a noisy fan problem -- I think the bearing is gone on it so it rattles like the dickens. Sadly, it's the fan in the base, under the printer mechanism. I cannot find any...

I was only able to find a parts list for the DFX 8500 but can't imagine the fan assembly would be any different. here is the part number
301 2025875 1 FAN ASSEMBLY

HERE is the link to the whole parts list

at the bottom there is a diagram of all parts.

Sometimes just unplugging printer from outlet will clear any software issues. Not from the PC but from power outlet. Leave unplugged for about 30 seconds.

Prints one side faded one sige legible the other side as if the printhead has a problem

Epson Dot matrix DFX 8000

Due to printer head firing is not proper.

The Prnter need servicing and once serviced it will be alright.

Sometimes the Printer Ribbon might have not rotating and the print will not be visible on the left and at right side it is bright.

Better consult the local printer hardware enigneer and settle this iseeu.

Put the original and best gsm paper in the printer, when prining job is iniated.

Line feeds

When you said line feed do you mean the Top of form?

hope this helps

1. Make sure the printer is turned on and the desired tractor is selected (the corresponding tractor arrow should be lit).
2. Open the upper cover.
3. Press the Top of Form button to enter top-of-form mode. The printer beeps once, and the Top of Form light turns on.
4. Use the Micro Feed buttons to feed the paper to the desired top-of-form position. The “A” on the ribbon protector shows you where the bottom edge of your first line of text will print. This position is based on the first printable line of text. If your software inserts a top margin of five lines, your text will actually print five lines below the top-of-form position.
5. Press the Top of Form button again to exit and save your new top-of-form position. Then close the top cover.

Keep me posted if you have inquiries, thanks!

Dfx 8000 not printing

Check the printhead guide bar for proper lubrication- light oil similiar to 3 in 1 will work. Check for any printhead cabling catching on something as the printhead moves back and forth. If error beeps are occuring immediately after turn on, and unit will not print, this might indicate a sensor problem, such as paper sensor, head home position sensor or another error condition of some sort.
