Question about LG 37LP1D 37 in. LCD Television
Alright guys first off I'm not stupid. The TV is plugged in. When I plug in the power cord into the tv the red lights (Bottom right of the TV) blinks for about a second and the green light then blinks for about half a second. Most of the time however the lights don't even blink. They only blink when its been unplugged for about 20 seconds. Even then sometimes it doesn't blink. However after that the still doesn't work and I can't do anything. This happened once before however the TV actually stayed powered after a few minutes. I've now been trying for hours and this stupid EXPENSIVE TWO MONTH old computer won't work. I don't know what to do. I bought it from Best Buy, but it's passed the 30 days and I don't have a warranty. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I called my local Best Buy for our LG 37" and let me just put it nicely that I am no longer a customer of Best Buy after 8 years of patroning... Ours is 5 months old and still under the manufacturers 1 year warranty. After 2 hours of talk time to those "people" at Best Buy, I called LG USA directly (1-800-243-0000) and they are sending out a tech to repair whatever is causing ours to turn off by itself and not power up. This will be covered under the 1 year warranty and all I have to supply is the receipt to the repair tech. Hopefully, things will go well since I have now move on from the inept abilities of Best Buy. LG warranty is a nice alternative to paying The Geek Squad for sure.

I've had the same problem with my 42 LG. It only happens once in a blue moon thought. I find if you fiddle with the plug in the back, and the connection to the TV itself, I am able to fix the problem and it doenst come back for a month or so. I usualyl fiddle with the connection in the back, so right when I get the Red light to suddenly blink, i manually turn on the TV (no remote). Usually it will just turn on and it will be fine for several weeks. Its kinda annoying, but whatever.

You might consider using Best Buy's "Geek Squad" just to make sure the set is not a dud. I'm sure if it's near to the 30 days, they would be real schmucks not to replace it. But, maybe it's just a setting somewhere in a menu. Have a good look at the manual with a beer, and I'm sure you will find something useful.
