Distorted color...Bulbs??? Our color has a blue green tint and we were told to change the bulbs. Does that solution sound accurate? Exactly what kind of bulbs do we need (item description and number)? Thank You!!!

Green tint to screen

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai2_bing.gif,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get more information and a DIY convergenece repair kit with instructions from the link below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

Problem #1) Convergence

Yours may have one or more of the following symptoms...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2 - Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

Must have blown something...all of a sudden after 9 yrs of use...picture is distorted. seems to arch toward the middle and mostly red and blue. Can watch it but very very distorted. sup?

I had the same kind of problem with a projection tv I had it was as simple as removing the front panel to expose the lightbulbs where there are 6 screws two for each color one for focus and one for power if after adjusting theese and going into the setup and adjust the color calibration it still does not work you want to make sure the three light bulbs on the bottom are alll working as missing one light can cause tints and the distortion your talking about

When tv is turned on the picture is distorted.thought at first that one of the bulbs was bad.took the screen off and all bulbs are lit.the red bulb looks distorted.has the bulbs got to go out to be...

Can you explain distorted in more detail?

Does the screen look 3D?
Can you adjust the convergence for both the blue and red colors - up - down - left - right?
If not the convergence chips and resistors are shot and should be repalced.

If however the screen is shrinking and expanding that is a different problem.  You can get a repair kit from for this model.

Color quality

The lamps may not be the problem; it would be highly unusual for two of them to fail at the same time.

I don't think (unless it is a familiar problem to someone here) that you will find a good answer here.
It sounds more like a house call for a tech.
Sorry -

Coloring going out on big screen

the tubes go for around 300 each and you have 3 of them, But you dont need new tubes. Change the CRT coolant and you will see your color will come back and so wont the clarity.
