Power to TV won't come on. Check breakers and used new outlet... still no power

Hi ,

Here are steps that may help you fixing the problem. You should prepare tools and multimeter.

I'm assuming that your unit is dead set without an standby LED light and your outlet is live.1.Power cord - check the cord it might be opened (no continuity). This is due to frequent bending, pulling. 2. Power switch - check for dry joints, open contact. 3.Check the internal fuse- sometimes the fuse fail because of the power surge, replacing with new one will cure the problem, If this is the case I've advice you to use surge protector/AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulator). However if the fuse blew again this is an indication that you have a shorted parts on the power supply, you may visit the link for more info. If no reaction and still the unit didn't power up then you have an open parts on the power supply.

4.If you see that the fuse is intact on the board, don't attempt to touch anything because there somefatal components stored electricity enough to hurt you with a simple mistake only.

The next steps should be done by an expert or qualified technician because isolating the problem on the power supply is technical and complicated.

Also check if your unit is under warranty before opening the back panel, it will void the warranty. Avail it because the manufacturer of your unit will fix it for free or a little charge only.

Hope it may help you.

Thanks for using fixya.

Not turning on

Hello Mr Pickles,
Please try several things for me. First try a different power outlet, try to see if you can notice obvious damage on the TV power cord. Check all light switches in the area to ensure they are turned on as they will often control power sent to electric sockets. Check the nearby breaker box to ensure non of your breakers have been popped. Please check the power button on the tv to ensure that it has not been pushed in to far or is damaged in any way. Take a look at the rear lower side portion of your unit, take a sniff to see if anything smells burned. After you have determined that everything is good to go and still no power to the tv, please return so I can continue to troubleshoot with you.
Thank you have a great evening.

Do the panasonic tv's have a breaker in them? My tv will not turn on

Glass Fuse is used instead of breaker. Your tv is dead set, it is an indication that you have a faulty power supply. It is quite technical because a lot of parts are going to be check to isolate the defective one. It is not diy so I've advice you to look for a qualified technician to troubleshoot the problem.

But first check the warranty of your set if it is still covered, if yes avail it from the manufacturer of your unit and they will fix it for you for free or a little charge only.

Thanks for using fixya...

We had a power surge in our area a little while ago and our tv went. I took the cover off the rear and saw a 6.3 amp 125v fuse right inside where the cord went and ir was burnt. I replace it with the same...

1.Check the power outlet where your TV is plugged.
Also your power panelboard for tripped off breaker.
2. If ever, your TV won't power on, then, it needs to
check your TV circuits. You can start at the power
supply IC for busted part., then to the other section,
(transceiver, audio, and video section)

Tv shuts itself off randomly (sleep mode problem)

This is wierd the kids played with your remote and you cannot get it out of sleep mode. Well here is somthing to try. You would take back cover off but here is the disclaimer (HIGH VOLTAGE INSIDE CAN CAUSE INJURY INCLUDEING DEATH) iF YOU NOT QUALIFIED OTAKE IT TO A TECH IF ITS SOMETHING MNOR IT WILL BE DONE WHILE YOU WAIT AND WILL NOT CHARGE YOU OUT THE YANG FOR A FEE. But if you inclined chekc the power supply unit and see if it is giving the correct current to the TV if not replace it.

Audiovox AVT2540 won't turn on

The only possible check that could be done without removing/opening the Audiovox TV would be to check for the presence/absence of supply power/voltage depending on how the TV is powered (12VDC or 120 VAC). Normally, there would be an fuse and/or circuit breakers.for the RV's entertainment system including the TV.
The 120-volt circuit breakers and 12-volt fuses are located in the same compartment. These devices interrupt the power if the circuit is overloaded. The 120-volt circuit breakers include a 30 amp main breaker and several smaller breakers for individual circuits. If a circuit breaker is tripped, look for an overload on the circuit, then reset it by turning the breaker OFF and then turning it ON. Do not try to reset a breaker the second time without locating the overload problem. The 12-volt fuses protect individual circuits. If the circuit is overloaded, it will blow the fuse and the fuse must be replaced. Check the circuit for an overload and replace the fuse with the same type or amperage rating.

If the above checks out, then problem is internal to the unit and would require removal from its current position.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

JVC AV-36260 Is there a fuse in this TV or is it a circuit breaker, if it is where is the fuse / circuit breaker located. I am am electrical engineer, but can not find any specs on the inside of the unit

All modern TV's have fuse devices, some glass, some chemical.

However,a blown fuse comes from a short circuit, which I'm sure

you are well aware.Let's talk diagnosis--What is your set doing

or not doing?? Is it dead?==No "on"?? If there is no bad fuse, the

most common solution is a bad capacitor in the power circuitry

number sequence==900's. Ex..C953    value== 1000mf/35v.

Other caps in power supply may be weak.

2) Check Horiz output transistor---shorted? Look for blown B+

fuse + weak or open C523 1mf/160v in horiz drive circuit.Replace

horiz out with high-quality OEM transistor only.I use JVC only

on 32" size & bigger ( you have 36" ).

Let me know by rating this solution...thanks...T.
