    thanks for reply
tv or theatre system do not appear to have selectors to change modes but when tv is set to home theater the theater unit toggles itself to "aux" as it should do according to the hand book

have connected rca cable as suggested this gives sound from all 5.1 speakers but wont know if its true surround sound until something decent is on tv,but both manuals infer only 1 cable[hdmi]is required, thanks for the help so far have you any other ideas?

Is your Panasonic set to monitor the HDMI input? Just like selecting a mode input on the Tv you must also select the mode input on the surround system.

Both the Tv and the theater system have to have as many mode selections as there are input ports. It makes no sense that the "unit" toggles itself to "aux" if there were not an aux input.

Try connecting an rca cable between Tv and theater system using an audio output from the Tv - in to the "aux" left and right audio and see if you get a sound sample.

It is most likely true surround, at least as true as the unit driving it, and my initial guess still stands - if HDMI is coming out from the TV and in to the receiver then HDMI has to be able to be selected as the source on the receiver - - otherwise it defeats the purpose of having an auxillary in parallel with any other input... On the other hand just plug into the unit in that fashion - HDMI is no better a connection for audio sampling than the rca or "F: connector would be...

Whats the best way to install a panasonic viera tc-p50x3 to a yamaha home theater receiver rx-v371 to a panasonic blueray dmpbd75 using dishnet work hddvr set top box

connect your blue ray and your dish net with hdmi cables to the amplifier than monitor out hdmi to tv .in your dvd configuration you must make sure that hdmi audio is activated .ps not to be mean but this is a very low quality dvd because it does not have fiber optique audio output but it can still work, for your dis net it all depends on what type of digital audio output
is available , ill be honest with you this is a good job .

How do i connect my sytem directly to the tv not just the dvd player?

Connect to the audio out of the TV, assuming you have a RCA audio out (red/white) on the TV. (Audio out of the TV to one of the Audio in of the SC-DT100)

The manual for the SC-DT100 is available from Panasonic here: http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electronics/support/Audio/Home-Theater/Home-Theater-Systems/model.SC-DT100 .

Some new TVs only have digital audio out, this isn't compatible with this home theater system's inputs.

I hope this helps.

Hooking Up Panasonic sc-ht670 home theater to Dish DVR 625 and Panasonic TH-42PHD7UY Plasma TV

You will need to run a set of audio cables from the TV1 output on the rear of the 625 directly to one of the three audio inputs on the surround system. Thanks for using Fix Ya.

Panasonic SC-PT850w sound cuts out

Are you watching 10HD off the air from an antenna? You are losing video and audio intermittently, which may just be indicative of a weak signal. Does your TV have a signal meter?
