Amazingly I read the owner's manual online and there is no mention of what type oil to use. However, this is a chain saw, albeit and electric chain saw. Therefore it is reasonable to assume that you would use bar oil which you can purchase anyplace that sells chain saws. Just ask for chainsaw bar oil. If you want to clarify this call 1-800-858-8501.
The manual says 30 weight engine oil. I'd use bar oil (30 weight with stuff added to help it stay on the bar and chain) available at most home centers and hardwares. HTH

the oil lubricates the chain & bar.you can buy bar oil where they sell chainsaws,but any5w-20 or 10w-30 is cheaper and just as good.use that 1/2 pint left over when you changed the lawnmower oil!
For your polesaw Stihl HT 131 with 4 mix engine you need a fuel/ oil mixture.The lubrication of the engine is realised through the fuel/ oil mixture(you need a superior quality of the oi for the mixture ).Buy it from an authorised Stihl dealer shop.Any other oil is not needed on the 4 mix engine. best regards savumihai71
