JVC AV-27820 27

When you first turn it on, the red light in front flashes, you hear a clicking noise on the board, than once that is down for a few seconds, then you hear static in the speakers. Any ideas, and if it requires a shop visit is it really worth it?

Shorted components causes continuous ticking/clicking sound from inside the set! it would really need a shop visit since you have no picture display! if you could trust the service person then it could be worth sending it to a shop!

Plug in and red light flashes and makes a click sound

How many times this standby/power light blinks at one time switch ON? Count it carefully. These blinks are fault indication, and known as blinking codes. From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON; you can get an idea about the faulty circuit stage inside the TV. This will make repair easy. For more information, check the link

Hello Jim O'Connell,
Welcome and thank you for using FixYa!
To answer your question: I would suggest having a television repair professional pull out the power supply board.
They will need to remove the board and check it for bad (cold) soldier joints, bad capacitors, and lastly, to use an Osilliscope to test the +5v and -5V transistors on the board. If they can't diagnose the board, they can use the part number to order and install a replacement for you. That should fix your issue.
Have a great day!

JVC TV has flashing red light in front. TV won't turn on when red light starts flashing. After unplugging tv for a while, TV sometimes turns on but screen is shaking violently. Any flashing lights...

sometimes a leaky filter capacitor in the power supply primary section could caused this problem,or a loose solder connection in the power supply section

How to find JVC AV27320 headphone jack? I've plugged into the avs(red & white) in the front panel as well as the extra ones in the back. Altho - I CAN hear the sound thru the headphones, The external...

This model doesn't have a headphone jack. The only JVC TV in the series that does is the model AV-20D202. For the JVC AV-2732, use the RCA audio out jacks with an RCA to 3.5 mm adapter to connect to the headphones. The front audio jacks are audio in (for the audio from a video camera for example).

When you use any external speakers or headphones through the audio out jacks, make sure to turn off the TV speakers. Press Menu and navigate down to TV Speakers (up/down arrows). Then use the right/left arrows to select Off and then Exit the menu. Make sure you scroll the TV volume before doing this. Note: if your headphones do not have a volume control they are a bad choice for this type of audio output.

You can find the manual for the TV here: .

I wish that I had better news for you.

TV wont power on, clicking noise and flashing standby led

Sounds pretty bad to me, I had a computer monitor that did a similar thing when plugged in after blowing, it's not a good thing. I didn't even bother to mess with it. You may have to replace the whole power board or at least have a whole handful of pieces to re-solder. It most likely isn't worth it unless your other tv's are under 30" and you don't have a lot of money ;)

TV wont power on, clicking noise and flashing standby led

To all the user with this problem.

The TV is on protect mode. The clicking sound is the protection switch that keep turning the TV off to prevent further damage, this happens when a fault had been detected.

Try first leaving the TV power cord unplugged for some times, let say one hour or so.

Also ensure that the fault is not coming from a faulty receiver box sending bad signal, check if you get same problem with no receiver box or dvd connected.

If that does not work, and you keep having a flashing led on front of the TV, and tv turning off by itself after a while, that indicates a fault condition.

The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the TV goes on protection there are only two possible reasons.

1The internal circuits are jammed because of electrostatic charges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage read by the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started the protection circuit.

2 The protection circuit detected a wrong voltage or abroken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in , startingthe flashing light.

If you are in situation one, then theTV will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours, sometimes even minutes.

If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.

Common faults that can occur are a blown capacitor on power board, a convergence IC has blown, or a fault on Digital board.

Check also the video cable or any external connection cable, if the cable is shorting, or the connector is bad, you can get same flashing state because of the video cable.

If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual
