Xbox 360 connection troubles

I can tell you that you are not alone. I cannot tell you the exact reason why but I am hardwired in myself and experience the exact symptoms you have scribed. I believe that it is simple a Xbox Live service problem. I work for a cable internet provider and have tried everything that can possibly be done to tweak and tune a connection and it still occurs.

I am not sure what the use as the communication protocol but if it is "SIP" based that would explain alot about why we are constantly being booted from party's.

I would definatally recommend hardwiring your xbox to a router though. You could be having wireless channel overlap from a neighbor that could me dropping the connection. Another possibility is if you have any file sharing utilities "bit torrent" ect. running, that will cause inconsistancies. You may also have someone else mooching on your wifi.

These are just suggestions, Hope this helps..

Xbox 360 ics apipa

you need to set static ip's for the xbox 360 and the lan that is on the pc, easy to bride the two connections on your computer, then set static on the lan that the 360 is plugged in to, example:
360's static settings:
ip: sub: gateway ------------------------------- computers settings:
ip sub gateway

IP address failed

The Xbox 360 cannot access the internet through an ethernet cable that is connected to your laptop. You have to connect your Xbox 360 directly to your modem or to some form or router.

Ip address failed

In order to connect your XBOX 360 to your laptop (if the laptop is connected via dial-up), you'll need a cross-over ethernet cable. It's a special type of ethernet cable, which is typically the same price as a regular ethernet cable, but it allows two devices (in your case) to communicate with each other. Then, you'll need to configure your laptop to allow incoming connections via your Control Panel -> Internet Connections preferences.

Hope this help!

Ip address for xbox live

ok, firstly i hate these problems.
first things first, switch your hub off (leave for 2 mins) switch back on, this may refresh the ip address, also switch your xbox off.. then try agian.
Get back to me and let me know what happens from here.

oh also are you connecting your xbox to the pc? or directly to your broadband hub? if you can connect it directly to your hub, this should solve any problems

You need to enter the router configuration. How you do this varies by model, but usually involves typing your gateway address into a web browser. Then, you need to assign your xbox an internal IP address and activate port triggering or forwarding (depending on the sophistication of your device) to send information on the designated ports to the Xbox. Was this solution helpful? I think the Ethernet cable needs to run directly to your router/modem, you can't bypass it through a laptop (as far as I know!)
