My Maytag refrigerator does not to cool and freeze that good. I have pulled the unit out and completely cleaned the coils under the unit. Also, I noticed that in the back of the freezer, it is completely frozen over. I removed all the items and unplugged the unit for over 24 hours to defrost the back. When I plugged it back in, it ran fine for about a week, but the back is frozen over again and it's struggling to cool. The fan is running, but does seem to have a lot of airflow up in the refrigerator part.

My refridgerator is running but the freezer isn't freezing and the refrigerator isn't cooling. Where do I start?

First thing is to clean the coils or grill under (or in back) of the fridge. This transfers the heat from the refrigeration unit to allow the coolant to dissipate collected or accumulated heat. If the coils are clogged with dust or other debris, it will hamper this process and waste energy.

Unplug the refrigerator.
Pull the fridge out from the wall, remove the back protective cover and vacuum everything you see. The coils may be on the bottom and you may need to get creative to clean it, but it will be worth it.

Good luck. don't forget to vote.

Freezer won't freez and the bottom nearly cools

I think you need to repost or clarify. You are asking why the freezer on your maytag gas dryer wont freeze. Assuming you have a split frig/freezer.... and assuming the compressor is working.... most common problem is either the fan motor is bad or possibly seized up with ice. Also the coils may be completely iced over. You can take two approaches here... Either turn the unit off and let it completely defrost, and let all the ice melt. Also best to tilt it to drain pooled up water after it melts. Or... you can remove some panels (sometimes difficult to do), and access the fan blower and coils. Once you get to the fan blower and coils check and make sure fan is blowing. let all the ice melt. A blow dryer works good for this, or just let it sit, and again make sure you tilt it and drain any pooling water. Also you should clean all the dirt, fuzz, and scum from under the unit around all the coils, and fans behind and below the unit.

As a start, try cleaning the coils and fan under the refrigerator.

You would not believe how many refrigerators and freezers I've worked on which required nothing but a good coil cleaning. The dirtier these coils get, the less efficient the unit becomes until it reaches a point that it almost appears as if the refrigerant unit is not working at all when all it really needs is a good cleaning.

While you're under there, be sure the fan is running to pull air over the coils to cool and condense the freon inside them.

Fridge is not cooling or freezing,a new timer was put in but stil

Try cleaning the coils under the unit, if you have pets, fur and dust builds up on the coils and the unit will appear to run all the time but will not cool.
Cleaning of the coils should happen at least twice a year, its a common thing to over look by everyone.
Hope this is all it is.
