Sylvania 4083 mp3 player says ''format error'' when trying to play songs that I downloaded from my computer

You must ensure that the files you have downloaded to the player are either MP3 or WMA files. Any other format will not play. To check if the file is in the correct format right click on it and go to properties. It must show as being an MP3 or WMA file.

For a breakdown on transferring files to an MP3 player please view this FixYa Tip.

Hope this helps. If so - your rating to my solution is appreciated.

Music downloaded as WMA from PC to MP3tech MP3S4 wont play

Your player should support both MP3 and WMA files. What happens when you try to play an MP3 instead? Have you tried other bit-rates? Those you are trying may be too high or low.

Sansa fuze not playing wma files

One of the possible solutions is that you ripped them with some protection. In the option box, uncheck the protection box then re-rip the cd.

Wont play wma files

Different players will accomodate different formats. You might have to reformat the WMA files on your PC and then transfer to your unit.

Cant play wma file

This player does not recognize the new WMA DRM-encryption system - converting the file to mp3 format or using DRM removal software is the only way around this problem

Won't paly WMA files that I bought online!

I remember reading somewhere that if you upgrade your firmware of your H340 from US to international to get video you lose the ability to play DRM music. I from this I would that the international version can't play the copy protected files. I am not sure of the legalities in your location, but you may be able to work around the copy protection. Maybe a google search would give you some hints.
