Question about Magellan RoadMate 700 GPS Receiver
I purchased the new updates for my roadmate 700 but I can't load it. I am using windows XP sp2. When I plug the gps into my computer it is recognized as thales nav by my pc but when I try to install the software the software says it can't find the gps. I also tried using usb ports in the front and back of the pc and 2 different computers but had the same problem with both.
Success !! Yes... !! Use a different PC and the S/W will load. I had a problem getting my desktop to identify the GPS unit (700) as a UPS device. I tried connecting to my office laptop and the install program worked....

I just had the same problem. Go to a command prompt and type chkdsk /f (drive letter) where drive letter is the letter assigned to your gps. When it tried to modify a folder to a file I said no and when it wanted to convert lost files into something??? I cant remember, I said no as well. It went thru the motions and repaired the drive. now my updates work.

Heres what to try. hook your gps up to computer, once it is reconized it should be seen as a removeble drive usally "F". your software should have ask you where you would like to place the file. place it in my documents or downloads or etc. then have your gps locate the file. one thing i need to know is what does your gps screen say once it is hooked up to the computer? this would help me understand what the misshap is!! you can also always goto the maggelln web site and download mapsend lite which is compatable with your system
