How do I tighten the lower thread on my 5710 Husqvarna please?

you need to change the needle to a ball point,, but check your
manual to see what needle it recommends
if you don't have a manual let me know & I'll check to see if I can
find one for you
adjust the top thread tension--if the bobbin thread is loose, then
tighten the top thread tension one number or letter at a time higher,
if the bobbin thread is tight,, loosen the top tension one number or
letter less..
take the bobbin out & reput it back into the bobbin case--make sure it's
turned the right way

I have a Husqvarna 5710 Electronic Control sewing machine that's playing up. Every time I try to sew anything, the upper thread seems to get stuck in the shuttle, causing a build-up of threads coming up...

you might check your needle to see if it's bent
try rethreading the machine, some machines do that when the top thread comes off the thread take up lever
make sure the bobbin is wound correctly & inserted in bobbin case correctly
also make sure the bobbin is not warped

Just bought a Husqvarna 5710, and found out that it did not have a power cord, or foot pedal. Do I need to buy replacement products specific to the model, or are there universal models that would work?...

You will need to buy power cord and foot pedal specific to your model. You can have an authorized Husqvarna Viking dealer order these for you. A listing of authorized dealers is available on the Husqvarna Viking website -

Also you could try ebay but be careful that you know what you are buying. Other 3rd party vendors are:

My Viking 5710 starts to sew without any pressure on foot pedal

Mine does the exact same thing. I think the problem might lie in the cord to the foot pedal. The cord packs into the foot pedal for storage, which forces the cord to to remain bent during storage. I believe the wires in mind became damaged and broken so I took it apart and reconnected the wires at the spot where the connector meets with the wires. But I still don't leave it plugged in if I'm not using it, it could be a fire hazard.

Power supply for 1+

Water + Electricity = Yikes!!!!!!!!!!! Take the machine to a repair shop before you do anything else with it.

All machines need lubricating periodically.

The trick is to be vary sparing. All moving parts require treatment according to usage, probably annually is plenty.

Depending on how you feel about the removal of the covers, access is required to do a thorough job.

If it has never been serviced and is more than 5 years old, I would suggest having a tech do the job and give it a good clean out and tune up, it will increase the life, and feel like a thoroughbred again.

Merely asking this question suggests that there may be an underlying reason ......maybe some minor misbehaviour ??

Do NOT be tempted to just "oil it" to attempt to remedy any new issue, there will be a reason and there is nothing worse for we techies to see a machine drowned in oil be some well meaning owner.......may cost more to clean it all out even before the real work can commence !!

So is there any other thing going on to have you feeling like oiling will solve it ?
