Question about Zenith Z50PX2D 50 in. Plasma HDTV

1 Answer

Would like a guru's assistance

Hey everyone - It was mentioned in a previous post that there might be an LG / Zenith tech bulletin stating the neccessity of replacing of multiple boards instead of only 2 components.

The story in a nut shell is this is my 2nd Zenith failure in almost 2 years. The 1st. was the "pop" & black screen. The service co. said they replaced the Y&Z sustain boards only. 2 weeks ago the tv failed again & one of the guru's here mentioned by not replacing the related boards as well, it would result in a potential defect, hence - I am the potential defect's owner. can anyone provide any type of documentation so I can tell the new service company that LG / Zenith states this IS WHAT NEEDS to be done? I've got a bad feeling that they are going to charge Zenith the most $$$ & not replace what really needs to be replaced.
Thanks in advance!

The 1st. time - it popped. This is now the second time, but it didn't pop, instead I get sound & I get these bizzarre vertical lines both yellow & pink. My kids think it's cool, but it really sucks

They need to replace both sustain boards along with the power supply and the logic board. These are the common 4 for a LG/Zenith dead plasma that popped! Good luck.

With the answer to my question everyone fails to mention that hp no longer supports their bios for my pc. Why? where can i actually really find it or rather an update? experts fail to keep up.

Okaaay. This site is Fixya, we are unpaid Experts, people just like you who help others, just because we can.

I have deleted my previous posting which told you the latest BIOS info which was what you asked for.

Contact Hewlett Packard direct and complain. If HP no longer support it, it is because the computer is out of date and they want you to buy a new one. I agree with them, don't run outdated computers.

Headlights flicker. alternator and battery test are good

Hello Glenn,

Your not the only owner that is, or has complained about this

See More (link below) On This Problem Via Bulletin No.: 05-08-42-001

Read 3rd post MrShift@Edmunds:

No easy fix here, or even a fix period... although the last paragraph in the bulletin does suggest a 90% reduction in occurrences. This issue represents a safety concern and should be moved into a recall notice category. Good Luck On This One...Sorry I can't assist.

Why are you insistent on giving me info for mobile apps when I havea computer, give me my Bulletin

Hi, this is the world's largest product support website

May I ask what seems to be the problem?

In viewing this post, and a previous one you stated, I find I,

1) Cannot find any Service Bulletins pertaining to 'PSHCP'

2) No HP Service Bulletins for Photosmart C4580 and PSHCP

Would like to help.

I believe I should also stop, and inform you that this website has no direct affiliation with HP.

This website does not produce products, period. Not a manufacturer.

Just a bunch of folks such as yourself, sitting at home, or where ever; and providing information to help people around the world with their products.

Many of us own our own business, in the particular category/s we help in.

Many of us are retired, and do this for the satisfaction of helping people.

Many of us just had the same problem as was stated, to us, and decided to post what the solution was for us to repair it.

That was the original starting premise by the founder,
Yaniv Ben-Saadon, about stating in your own words ma'am, about what exactly happened?
Did you get a good look at his face? Was he wearing a jacket, and did he have any visible scars?
Just take your time, and try to remember.............

(Dragnet -Friday)

What, may I ask, does this 'Bulletin' pertain to?
The HP Photosmart C4580, and a computer?
Is it that you cannot install the Photosmart to your computer?

MANY, make the mistake of either not reading the Installation Instructions, or not following the Installation Instructions.
This = a real hard time in life, if you do not follow instructions well.

ONE, DO NOT PLUG THE PRINTER into the computer F-I-R-S-T!
Then put the installation disk in the computer.

Driver: Small piece of software that allows the Operating System to communicate with a device

The device in question is an HP Photosmart C4580.
The Operating System wasn't stated. Some version of Windows.

When a device is installed on a computer Windows 'breaks it's neck' to find suitable, matching drivers.
If THE drivers are not there, Windows will match up one of it's THOUSANDS of generic drivers.

This = NO

You need THE drivers there before the device is installed.

THE drivers being the drivers that go TO THAT device.
The drivers MADE specifically for THAT device.

Not generic one-size-fits-all drivers from Windblows.

This means the Installation (CD) Disk that comes with the printer, MUST be put in the optical drive (CD/DVD drive) FIRST.
The software is then loaded.
The drivers AND user interface software,

That is what is on the Installation Disk.
Don't have the disk? Then I can step by step guide you in downloading, and installing this one.

Not EVEN close to what your problem is?
Then please post in a -> Comment.

Also, tell Spanky and Our Gang, that when a person posts a problem, they should not assume a previous post is seen.

Therefore all info included in previous posts, should be included in subsequent posts.

Who is this masked man?
Well I'm old enough to be a combat 'Nam vet, if that tells ya anything.

6 foot 2, eyes of Blue, and an old biker

(Naa, I'm about 5'-11", lol!)

Post back in a Comment, June.

Truck will not turn over replaced ignition switch and cylinder, its as if there is no power going to alternator. no remote start. if you keep turning ignition key it will start finally. does not happen all...

Hello! There is a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) # 02-06-03-006B written that addresses this issue...Dated November, 2004...It concerns the way the battery cables are connected to the posts...Loose connections cause improper battery charging and intermittent starter cable continuity....The TSB mentions that the bolt that holds the cable connector in-place is either stripped or too long...The Bulletin also mentions the charging voltage...Running voltage must be greater than engine off voltage but less than 16 volts...A function of the Alternator...If the battery is leaking, the alternator is overcharging...Take the vehicle to an authorized GMC dealer and have the TSB installed if necessary...

You can check the battery cables (both - and +) for tight, clean connections...If you have a voltmeter, set it to read +12 volts...Measure battery voltage with engine off...Record reading...Start engine and measure again...Voltage must be 1.8 - 2.0 volts higher...In both measurements place the meter probes directly on the battery post and not on the connector...

I have a z50p3 I tried to hook a samsung 1600

Sorry, man I have the same problem, with the same tv and player. Did you ever get a solution? LG Service Tech came out and his LG bluray player worked, whereas my Samsung didn't hooked to the TV. (It would spordically work going thru my HK254 AVR.)

He said either 1) the Samsung player was defaulting to a format that the Zenith being 3 years old could not decode (eg. 1080P) or that I might need to change inputs several times to get it to sync up or 3) by an LG Bluray player.

He said the Zenith was old and that newer sets are built with circuitry to help navigate the handshake easier. He couldn't find any service bulletins on it, and the one I got from LG he said didn't exist.

I have purchased 2 of the units from Mat and they are core light engines that look worse than the originals. Your best bet is Tri State Module. I have used a couple of theirs and they are quality. Cost is closer to 400.00 and it is a big job to disassemble this unit and replace this light engine. Most likely will take a tech who knows this unit.

A little different problem

It's either logic main or digital board and could also be one of those caused by a failing top or bottom Y drive. Hope you still have that warranty. That year ago when they replaced the Zsus p/n# 6871qzh044c and the Ysus p/n# 6871qyh039b did they also replace the Top Y Drive p/n# 6871qdh088a and Bottom Y Drive p/n# 6871qdh089a ?? If not they may have been doing you a dis-service... That is a common problem with Zenith and the tech bulletin clearly states that all parts must be replaced or the module replacements are not reliable and could cause other failures.

Z50PX2D 50" - I heard a loud pop and now only a washed out black and white picture

it is wonderful that lg is replacing the boards, but unfortunately, I don't think that they will provide this service forever. So if anyone reads this after being denied by LG, visit and you will be able to purchase any of the circuits in the set for cheaper than you will be able to from LG. I work for Tri State Module as a technician specializing in plasmas. All circuits come with a one year warranty, and I will personally repair all boards
