Don't have original remote control. Somehow, a window for PIP opened, and I can't get it to turn off. Have a new sony remote RM-V310A, but the PIP button won't activate the remote. Any...

Many TV functions can be controlled from the on-screen menus using buttons on the TV itself. These include all kinds of settings however Sony did not include PIP in these menus. Therefore a valid remote is required to operate PIP. One thing you could try is removing the cable from the secondary input on the TV which provides the signal for the other picture. Without an input signal PIP may be disabled. Also, try buying a universal remote and setting the proper code for your TV. Original remote could be hard to find but may have one.

I can't get my dish system to work with this TV. I'm only getting 2 chanels. How do I program new chanels to this TV? I need chanel 60.

It depends on the TV a bit. Which model of Broksonic TV do you have? Do you have the original remote? ( has replacement remotes for many TVs.) Look at the TV (or the original remote) for a menu or channel add subtract option. (The TV is probably programmed to skip the channels that didn't have a signal in the past so you need to reprogram this.) If the TV is a really simple TV (with just the channel and volume controls on the TV), you'll need the original or a direct substitute remote (or a higher end programmable remote). Most basic universal remotes will control power, channel and volume but not the reprogram channels option (in my experience). If you can program the add/remove channels, press 60 on the remote, wait for the TV to go to that channel and then press the Add Channel button. Alternately, with the satellite receiver on, press the combination to search all channels and program the skip to channels with signal.

I hope this helps.

(I had a really old Emerson TV; when the original remote started to fail, the cheap universal remote didn't handle the channel programming. Fortunately, the original remote would usually still work for that.)

My remote is broken and i need to reset the tv to receive more digital stations

You can buy a verified replacement remote from, the original is no longer available:
Replacement remote
If you choose to buy a 'universal' remote instead, check the remote mfr.'s website to ensure that your TV is included in their code set.

Locked remote

i know this may sound silly but check the batteries. now if you allready changed them and your still having the same problem check the ir signal on the remote. now all you have to do is take any camera( camera phones work just as good) hold it to the ir sender on the remote press any button on the remote and look through the view finder on the camera. you should now see a light go off on the remote through the camera. if you dont see a light then you have yourself a broken remote. if you do then its possible its the tv ir reciever. and may need to be serviced. but hoping its the remote you can always get a replacment remote for cheep.

Remote no longer works

In side of the TV set there is a remote receiver module. In some models of sets, there is no module. They use descrete components on the main circuit board. The fault could be in the remote receiver section. In some models of TV sets there are some remote amplifiation circuits along the way to the uPC controler. There could be a fault along this path.

The service tech would troubleshoot this by verifying the voltage supply to the remote receiver circuits. Then he would shoot an IR remote signal to the receiver, and then follow the data flow from the output of the IR reciever circuits along its signal path to the uPC controler. This way, he should be able to see with the scope where the data signal is failing.

Original Remote

some or most remotes flash a red light as they work.... there is a card you can hold in front of remote to see the infrared working. if not remote .. I have seen alot remote recievers fail inside the set. and it was mostly due to standby voltage failure .....pinpoint? get a shematic and check reg. ic and zener diodes... fuse resistors. 5volt standby

Remote control no longer responds for Konka K2001UM

You can test the remote by holding it very close to an AM radio receiver and pushing the buttons on the remote. You may have to tune the radio accross the AM bamd to pick up the remote's signal. You should hear a popping sound each time a button is pressed. You need to hold the remote near the tuner of the AM radio. If you can't pick up a signal then you need to replace the remote. If you do pick up a signal then possibly the remote receiver in your TV is bad or the remote is not putting out the proper IR signal. Stargazer
