Page 62 will show you to set up your sata harddrive. It looks like you set it to auto, and let the BIOS find it

I think its okay to upgrade your HDD till 1TB, just make sure that HDD have serial ATA port to connect. my little advice is when you want to upgrade your HDD is look your mainboard specification, because HDD is work when it can recognized by mainboard. hope this useful, regard riyan.

ASUS P5S800-VM Motherboard configuration

Serial ATA drives are pretty much plug and play. You just need to install them and set them up as a primary drive in your bios settings. The IDE devices can be connected on the same ribbon cable but need to have jumpers set on the back to determine which device is primary or slave. If the IDE devices are on different ribbon cables then most likely the hard drive jumper setting should be set to master or master (single drive). The CD-ROM drive jumper on master. BIOS should detect all drives You also need to assign the boot order in BIOS. CD-ROM should be the first boot device to load and install the new OS onto the primary hard drive.

Mobo doesn't recognize hdd

Your board shows serial ATA compatibility, I'm pretty sure the Seagate 1.5TB HDD is a serial ATA II device. These are not backwards compatible. Sorry. Hope this helps.

Sata Port Connector is not avtivating

I had the similar problem with the K8MM-V Motherboard. I has been using a PATA HDD. I need to intall a 250Gig Seagate SATA HDD. Despit all the Bios Configs the PC Could not detec the HDD. Untill i Put a Jumper on the HDD  limiting the SATA HDD to 1.5gig of OS instead of 3gig. Look at the Label of your HDD

your board may support sata however it may support sata 1 not 2 and your hdd may be a sata 2 all you have to do is to check the hdd jumper and set it on sata 1 and also check the bios for the right settings to be made...
