I use Canon ZoomBrowzer EX 5.8. I was attempting a backup to CD and got distracted. Not sure exactly what I did wrong but now I cannot open those photos any more. Message reads 'no preview available' and instead of seeing a thumbnail of the pics, I get a graphic of a broken photo. Is there any way I can retrieve and repair these photos?

- I still don't know how to recover/repair the photos. The previous solution offered (using www.recuva.com) didn't work at all.
I think they are gone forever :-(

- Thanks for your suggestion. The majority were not renamed. I have tried saving some of them as different names now, but that doesn't work either.
i had the same problem but i found out it occurs when opening files while i was logged in as another user then the account i used for downloading the pictures from my camera. Assigning the proper admin rights does not solve the problem but loggin in under the original acount does gve me access to the pictures

Hi, I have a Canon Powershot A70 camera at work and have successfully downloaded photos for years. Now I can't open some of the photos using the ZoomBrowserX software. A message says "Error, unable to open the image...the image format is invalid? Any suggestions? Thank you.
