You need to follow these options for cleaning your printer.

1. open your case and remove the cartridge from your printer and clean your cartridge area.
2. now you need to clean paper rolloer area.
3. once you will do that then you need to clean your printer tray and other area.

Sounds like your printheads are clogged. Usually from the printer's software you can clean the nozzles using an option in the Printer driver.

Are you using genuine brother inkjet cartridges for the black and color?

try to run the cleaning on the machine 5-6 times, if this does not fix it the print head is really clogged and would need to be removed and cleaned manually by a tech. to clean press the ink button then ok twice and print the test page after it comes out it will prompt you for the cleaning, just keep going through this 5-6 times and see if it improves.

I have a brother MFC 3240C. My Black ink stopped printing(initially printed horizontal faded lines and gradually got worse), the other colors were printing fine. I tried cleaning numerous time( 50 -100 times over 1-2 weeks ). Still no improvement. The way I print now is:
1. I go to Printer Properties
2. Change Media type from "Plain Paper" to "Inkjet Paper".
3. Change Quality to "Photo".

This takes a long time to print 1-2 minutes per page. However, this works for me since this is my Home printer and use it for printing only few pages here are there.

If you haven't changed it recently, it may be out of black ink. The product code for Black is LC51BK.

The print head is clogged.If not unclogging with cleaning process may you try to clean manualy.You need to dissasembly the hole printer to remove the print head.Put it in hot water.If you don't have a technical skills, don't try anything.
If not help just buy new printer, because the new print head will cost you as much more.

Access the internal maintenance mode by pressing the Menu/Set button, then press * 2 8 6 4 within 2 seconds. This should put you in the maintenance mode menu. Enter 80, then scroll down with the arrow down (round) key. You'll find an entry listed as purge count. If number is over 6000, enter 2 7 8 3.

This will reset the purge count value. Then the printer will restart, try this step by step.without missing any thing. thanks

I'm also using their ink now. I'm a photographer so colour is really important to me. InkMagic ink is as close to the orginal Brother ink as I've found. The MFC-240 cartridges are here:
