Hi there SmartAlec from Nelsonvacuums.com.au here. It is likely to be one of 2 problems. 1. the washable filter is blocked - you can test this by removing the filter and running it for 10 minutes and see if it improves. Or it could be the radix assembly that is blocked, just remove the dirt canister and radix and run it without those pieces for 10 minutes. You dont need to be actually vacuuming dirt up for these tests but it will let you know which is the faulty part. I can help you with either component if you are in Australia. Just visit my website NelsonVacuums.com.au and you can buy the parts there for easy delivery. Hope this helps.
Happy Vacuuming :)

My dyson DC25 runs for 5-10 minutes and shuts off. What can I do to fix this?

You may need new filters or have a clog somewhere causing it to overheat and shut off.

Had this Hoover Model# UH 71214 for 14 months, use it once a week in my Condo. all of a sudden it shuts off, will come after 30 minutes, but then shuts off again after about 10 minutes. I clean it aft

Many people are not seeing the washable filter at the top of the vacuum cleaner. You can't see it until you open it. This will cause the vacuum to overheat and shut down when not cleaned.

Shuts off (overheats) after 10 minutes. Protecto relay? How to take apart?

Your machine is what's called a "Special Model" and needs to be disassembled upside down in a form fitting tray, by removing the two side rubber bumpers, then taking off the bottom and finding the part that shuts it down. The best thing to do is to take it to an Electrolux repair shop and let them handle it. They have the trays and they're trained in the way it comes apart properly;

Vaccume shuts off after 5 minutes of using. will only start after sitting for hours.

This sounds like an overheat condition. You must have plugged air flow, so rather than cause a fire, the unit shuts down until cooled. Find and remove the blockage << Not always an easy task.

My unit powers up but does not run for more than 10 minutes before shutting down. I also sem to have lost suction. What do you suggest I do?

The air passages inside the head are plugged and causing the motor to overheat. Remove the bottom plate and look for wads of hair or other debris jamming the passages. Same procedure on the bag end (but no plate). Don't run it longer than required for test of air flow. Once the air flow is restored, reassemble the entire unit. Hope this helps!

My hoover vacuum runs for about 10-15 minutes then the saftey feature shuts it off(overheat?). i have taking it apart a cleaned it with no results, added new bag also. after an hour it cools down and works...

Do you have suction through the tools? Does it look like it picks up when it runs? The machine could be clogged and that would cause the problem, but unfortunately the sensor that shuts the machine off could be bad if the machine isnt clogged. Its not easy to get to it, I'd take it to a repair shop.

Shuts down after 10 min use

I would clean or replace filters on it check the hose to make sure it is not blocked . It sound like it is over heating and making the breaker kick off and after it cools down it resets this is caused by dirty filters or blocked hoses.

Our Hoover U5780-900 stopped working while using the attachment. We let it cool down for about 5 minutes and it fired back up. It appears to shut down when it overheats.

Dyson dc07 animal

This is from the Dyson web page:
Get expert help Thermal cut out Most Dyson vacuums have a built in safety system that stops the machine if it begins to overheat. This usually happens because the filter needs washing or your machine is blocked. If your machine turns off on its own, unplug it and leave it for at least an hour to cool down. Remember to check the filter and look for blockages before re-starting.
Any non- domestic use may adversely affect the filter performance such as vacuuming up plaster dust.

Sounds like your vacuum is overheating. Check the above.

Heater/fan issues

There is a safety switch which will shut the heater element off if the fan doesn't run. If the fan doesn't circulate air, the element would overheat and could possibly start a fire, so the switch will shut the element down. I'm not familiar with this heater, but I would check to make sure the fan is operating and also check for any filters that may be plugged and restricting air flow. If anything interferes with the air passing through the heater, the overheat switch will shut down the element. That's the best I can do from here. Good luck.
