Re: sound just stopped working

Try removing the drivers and reinstalling them. Otherwise, your sound controller may have bit the dust, in which case only replacing it will work.

Hi. i lost my sound on hp dv 8113 cl few days ago

  • Hi, the best thing to do at this point is perform a "System Restore." Try to remember the exact "Date before the problem occur, or once you start the System Restore, ("pick a date going back more than 5 days"), check the dates and see if any of the dates seem familar. Pick the closest date prior to the "Sound going out!" Type in the "Search Window" from the start menu: system restore; scroll to find, and open. Follow all the instructions carefully for the process to be successful. "Hope it works out for you; if so rating the help will let me know, thanks."

My laptop speakers aren't working. A few days ago I kept receiving a pop-up from SigmaTel which would freeze my computer but the message stopped. Now my speakers stopped working completely.

If you have a restore point of a week ago, backstep your machine to the restore point.

The sound on my HP notebook just stopped. The

1st open your volume control and make sure it is not muted as this is a common error. If not then check the device manager and make sure there are not errors on you audio device. Try updating or reinstalling the drivers for you particular model which can be downloded from HP's site.
If all else fails try a system restore and go back to the day you know for sure that your sound was working properly.

Microphone not working

I would do a system restore. Windows probably made a backup before you installed the updates. That should take care of it. System Restore is really safe so don't be afraid of it, it's very useful.
