It could be something more serious, or as simple as inserting fresh/fully charged batteries, but the problem you describe is frequently due to corroded battery contacts inside the camera. Remove the batteries and wipe the camera contacts firmly with a clean cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a fine wire brush, steel wool, or fine sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during cleaning, clean the contacts at both ends of the batteries, and reinsert them in the camera. This cleaning cures the problem about 90% of the time, and I hope it works for you.

Kodak EasyShare Z740 Turns Off Fix Does your Kodak EasyShare Z740 Turns On...

Kodak EasyShare Z740 Turns Off Fix

Does your Kodak EasyShare Z740 Turns On Then Turns Off right away?
Does your Kodak EasyShare Z740 Turns Itself Off with new AA batteries in it?

Many of these Kodak EasyShare Z740 cameras that shuts off right away and will not stay on, will actually stay on if you select FAVORITES to view pictures, but just flash back and turn off if set to auto or camera mode. Try this.

If the lens cannot extend, the camera will turn itself off. You can try giving the camera a thump with the heel of your hand, but I would recommend servicing the camera rather than smashing a delicate digital instrument. After trying the steps below, a last chance alternative that works for some people is to grab and actually PULL the lens out as it tries to extend itself. Again, its delicate; if you can afford it, maybe pay for servicing before hitting and pulling on your camera.

However, before servicing your Kodak Z740 try this fix:

  1. Hold down the Time/Ascending Folder button (the button under OK on the circular panel)
  2. While holding that down, press and hold the ON/OFF button.
  3. The camera may turn itself on and stay on this time, acting normally again.

If this doesn't work for your try this:

  1. Hold down the '>' button (the one that brings you to picture review)
  2. While holding that down, press and hold the ON/OFF button.
  3. The camera may turn itself on and stay on this time, acting normally again.
If that doesn' t work, try again with the 'Trashcan' button, and ON/OFF button.

I hope that helps.

DSC-HX5, Lens is Stuck in Zoom out mode. Turn On works but screen stays black. Automatically turns off after 10-20 seconds.

Since there is nothing you can do to fix this at home you have 2 choices, replace the camera or send it back to the manufacturer for exchange (very expensive)

Panasonic DMC FZ7 will not turn on.

The camera would have eventually turned off on it's own...it didn't stay on for 24 hours. Remove the card and battery...press all the buttons...leave it alone for 20 minutes...insert the card and then the battery...turn it on.

When turning on my camera the stays on for only a

Hi there,

2 possible problems..

This is due to one of two problems:

First and easiest: the batteries are dead. Im sure you know how to fix that problem.

Second: your lens is jammed. The camera tries to turn on and extend the lens but since it is stuck, can't do so and gives up, beeps, and shuts off.

To fix this problem, send it into a repair shop. it shouldn't cost that much.

I hope that helped.

Mine did the same thing. Just let it sit for a couple of days. Don't mess with it. It'll eventually stop doing that and work. That's what i did. It worked for mine.

Camera on for 5 seconds red flashing light then turns off

that definitely sounds like a battery problem.

when you charged the battery, did the light stay red, and then turn green when it was finished?

if it flashed red, try this:

MATERIALS: 9 volt battery, 2 pieces of wire the same length, casio battery

DIRECTIONS: connect the + sides of each battery with a wire, and the - sides of each battery with another wire. [I just held them there, but maybe you can tape them if you're having trouble.] Hold it for 30 seconds. Then try charging it. If it doesn't work keep trying it until it does. TRUST ME! It took me 5 times to do it effectively.

If your battery has gone too long without charging, sometimes it won't charge correctly any more. So do this.. IDK why it works, but it did for me!
