Changing Resolution On A Fuji A350 Camera

I have been taking photos of items to sell on e-bay. I used the camera right out of the box . Everything was fine and still is for e-bay. I want to use another auction and evey time i hit enter the phrase IMAGE TO LARGE. They e-mailed me that I neededto be at 200 or less Kbytes for the photo to be accepted. First I wouud like to know how to change Resolution to 200 or less, and if I do will it affect the photos foe e-bay.

Thanks Alan Cooper

Re: Changing Resolution On A Fuji A350 Camera

Wow, this is a pretty in depth question. Here is a link that is dedicated to the multitude of topics.

It does a better job, than I could do in this little box. =)

But, the idea is this... about a picture.

  • The Dimensions of the Picture; being 2592x1944 pixels for example. Width and Height. Is the largest dimension your camera will produce.
  • Resolution of the image; being the number of dots per inch within in the borders of the photo. 72dpi (screen), 96dpi (screen), 150dpi (low print), 200dpi (med print), 300dpi (high print)
  • Compression of the image; this is how many dots are take out of the picture to shrink the image size, though maintaining a high quality of the picture.
Adjust the dpi to take out extra photo dots (from 200dpi to 96dpi). Then scale to less than 640x480. Then compress to about 70-80%.

Have fun ebaying.

Hope this helps, if so, please rate FixYa! ThankYa!

Re: Changing Resolution On A Fuji A350 Camera

The picture size (in Kbytes) depends on the quality of picture. If somehow you can reduce the settings in your camera to a lower resolution, then it would of course make the file size smaller but then again, the quality suffers.

You can perhaps continue using the same settings in your camera since they are being accepted by e-bay and presumably you are satisfied with the quality. Alternately and additionally, use a software to convert/reduce the file size of the image/picture file to say 50% (where again quality will downgrade also) and use the downgraded picture to upload to the other auction site. With this method, you need not change any setting in the camera, you retain picture quality in e-bay and able to upload same image to the other site in a reduce file size.

Do a Google for freeware photo editor programs or programs similar to ACDSee . An example is IrfanView.

Hope that this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things turned out or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Photos that have been already taken before any changes will not be affected after photo setting.Use camera menu or setup to look for RESOLUTION, PHOTO SETUP, IMAGE TYPE,STANDARD OR TYPE on menu to change photo resolution..

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

Fuji a350. When I got the camera, it took many many photos(50-100) with alkaline...

Many digital cameras (eg Samsung D53, Nikon 2100) have extremely poor battery life with alkaline batteries (under 20 shots!). Sometimes they won't even take a single picture.

Try using rechargeable batteries or "oxyride" disposable batteries. They perform infinately better.

Not very likely - Try the customer support at Fuji

Taking night photos with the A350

I suggest you find a tripod and use "No Flash" as the reason the pictures are blurry is usually the camera moved. I love the no flash option, but since the shutter stays open so much longer, a tripod is almost a necessity.

Change Resolution

Okay this file size is very small and even if you could chage the settings on your camera to the lowest , I'm sure the filesaize will still eb too large.
What to do is use a photo editing program such as adobe or maybe even something else you can get for free. when saving the image you will be able to enter the image size or select what quility, the lower the quality the lower the file size.
To check the file size of an image just right click on it and go down to properties, remember 1mb is equal to 1024kb
Hope this helps

Cant take a picture

This is a common problem with this camera and it needs to be sent back to Fuji for repair.I've been through it three times and then they replaced the A350 with an A400 and now I'm having the same problems with the A400.
They want to swap it with a E500.
Both of these replacements are less of a camera then the A350.
If they won't repair it under warranty I suggest you stay away from Fuji cameras in the future,I know I will never buy one again

Card not initialized

You don't hafe to loose your photos when you download-just uncheck the box that says erase all after download. If you don't trust this, just take out your xD card and put it directly in your computer card reader. many programs will pop up willing to download them for you.
Again, don't check the box that says erase your card until you can check that all has downloaded ok.
