Powers up but does not show on computer

This could be an issue where the part of the hard drive you are trying to access is corrupt and not accessible which would explain the reason that it would let you access the other partition.

Now I have seen cases where Malware can break the link of a Hard Drive.

So let's try a couple of steps.

Let's go back in to "Disk Management"

Lets right click on the partition that you are not able to access and select "Change Drive Letter and Paths"

Now try selecting a new Drive Letter.

This will restore the path if it has been broken.

There are also Data Recovery programs that might be very helpful to recover your important information.

hope this helps

My hdd detected in cmos but during formatt process its show not accessible, and when i boot my computer the screen show LGIBM logo.

Test your PSU or replace it if your power supply units fan is not working your PSU is faulty

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect/ boot up a computer hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your "((MOTHERBOARD TO THE HARD DRIVE))" make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs its connections to continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error hope this helps

Hello...after moving pc and take of power of WD Elements 400, it didn't show up anymore in the My Computer screen and doesn't seem to sound, just the burning blue light..what to do?

Disassemble the case, and remove the 400GB disk-drive.
Connect the disk-drive as a "slave" disk-drive to some desktop computer, and see if you can still access the files.

Get the serial-number from the label on the top of the disk-drive, and access Western Digital's web-site, to check if the device is still under warranty. If it is, W.D. will replace it, at minimal cost to you.

If the warranty has expired, W.D. has a "Customer Loyalty" program -- you can buy another external disk-drive from W.D.'s web-site, at a significant discount.

My external hardisk is showing in device manager but it is not showing in disk manager

**Turn your computer off, then unplug the USB cable and then the power to the drive. Restart you computer, plug the power into the hard drive, wait 10 seconds and then plug the USB into the computer. This clears the hard drive buffer. See if the drive shows up in disk management. Before formating, turn off your antivirus. **
**1. Test your drive on another pc
2. Check your bios settings

I am running vista home ultimate. i have a hard drive from an XP laptop that I put in an enclosure to access it with the vista computer. the vista computer says that install failed every time i plug it...

If ou want to save your file you have to plug the into a xp machine, pulled the files off and burn them to a dvd or cd. Then you plug it into the vista, and let vista format the drive. Your enclose hard drive have windows xp boot files, and they need to be formatted before plugging into the vista. Vista is thinking it is a bootable drive where it is not.

I disconnected my computer to move it and when I reconnected it I can no longer access my external HDD. The computer recognises a mass storage device but says that the device can not start (code 10). I've...

Sometimes when an external device has an unexpected loss of power, the computer has trouble accessing the drive after power has been restored. In Device Manager, try re-assigning the drive to anoter letter. What can happen is the computer has reserved a spot for the external although it is having difficulty accessing it. If you're able to re-assign the external drive, you should be able to access it.
p.s. this is very common with external drives formatted in FAT.
