Question about Panasonic PT-AE500U Multimedia Projector

Open Question

OUTPUT; PT-AE500U The right side of the picture is blue. The screen is 94 inches. The blue colour is in the shape of a right triangle. Almost all the way to the top of the screen and about 14 to 16 inches from the bottom right of the screen. Interfers with viewing. Any ideas

I also have a Panasonic PT AE500E and also have the same issue. It seems to be like a burn in type affect in blue and is not in the same position everytime you use the projector. I was told it was the globe and today have replaced the old globe. Problem still there. Not happy. 2 and a bit years old and seems to have a serious problem.

From further research online and it seems it may be an issue with the optical block?

If so it looks like this costs about $1800 Australian dollars to fix.

If it sounds like I am right please let me know. if I am. Panasonic never again!

SOURCE: Panasonic PT-LC56E projector

that projector has not been made for some time (7-9 years I believe) so there are probably several thousand hours on the projector, and at about 2500 to 3000 hours your panels start to fail,, sounds like the LCD panels are warping, and you are loosing convergence.

that projector would cost about $500.00 to replace with a newer brighter unit, with a new warranty.

but the "E" means this unit is for europe only, so your prices may vary

your color calibration may be off. see if you can set the red green and blue settings all to "0" and see if that works. may want to refer to your manual and see how you can do that and also see if there is a auto calibration

Optical block is the culprit! replacement is not too difficult. About the only special tool required is a long phillips screwdriver to reach the screws securing the block to the front panel of the set. Then, there are three connectors on the C board which is part of the block, one connector on the left side of the C board, one fan connector on the left side and then two connectors on the lamp driver board which is on the back of the optical block. Two recessed screws hold the block to the front panel and sometimes there is a third recessed screw to the left of where the lamp is located. Then the block slides out. Reverse the procedure to install the block.
