Hello Minikish
well, some DELL models, have an internal audio, and it is cheap sound card, others have problems with this sound cards, and must be replace. or if you want to buy a PCI X-FI from creative, really Rocks the sound to a new level 5.1 surround sound, up to 7.1

I have polk audio rm 705 purchased from my friend a month ago. these are working fine but one day one speaker just have very low sound coming from tweeter where as the main speaker is silent.

Try switching the speakers left to right. If the same speaker is bad on both channels, the speaker is bad. If the good speaker is now bad, the unit driving the speakers is bad.

Same problem, brand new Dell Vostro, hooked up Polk Audio speakers from former computer and get very, very faint music. Need a solution

if the sound is very faint. you can check the volume properties if it is set to maximize and also check the physical volume control on the actual speaker - also Disconnect Any Headphones That May Be Connected to the Computer - Check for and remove any headphones connected to the computer or speakers to prevent them from muting the external speakers.Click Start, and then click Control Panel.Double-click Sounds and Audio Devices. Click the Sounds tab. You can also try head phone if it is Crystal Clear on headphone then the problem is with the Speaker as Dell might need to replace it. :)

Exact same problem; low volume

1st check your PC if audio is fine with headphones or some other speakers , then check your control panel and test sounds compatibility might that you are using wrong speaker setting in the PC.
The below is the company web link to your speaker set , try this too

I have had a set of Polk Audio SDA1 speakers that I had attached to an old but great Pioneer SPEC-1 pre-amp and SPEC-2 power amp. The old speakers had one connection for the right speaker positive and...

bi-wiring requires the removal of the copper jumpers between the hi and low speaker terminals. you can use two wire pairs twisted together at amp out connections and the four separate ends at each speaker, but the quality of sound will not be as good as buying quality bi-wire cables. But a pair of quality single set of wires at each speaker would be fine, but put jumpers back on and attach to the top terminals, they are designed that way. bi-wiring does allow the crossover to put out a little better sound. Hooking up four sets of wires to the a and b speaker terminals sounds bad. i have had alot of trouble with my rti10's and learned the hard way that it is best to pay more for wires with quality terminations.

Speakrs don't work on new HP Pavilion desktop.

If you're using Windows XP, go to the Control Panel, then double-click on Sound, then go to the Audio tab and make sure the playback device is set to your Realtek output.

If you're using Windows Vista, go to Control Panel and click on Hardware and Sound, then click on Sound. Make sure your Realtek device is selected with a green check mark. If it isn't, just click on it and then click the Set as Default button down below. Vista sound configuration is kinda quirky, and it does do some kind of detection when you plug a cable into an audio jack, so you might leave this screen up while you plug your speakers into the green audio jack in the sound card and see if it pops anything weird up.

Dell GX280 speaker problem..??

Go into the device manager and see if the sound card drivers are installed. If not then you'll need to install the drivers for them.

Polk audio ext speakers on hp pavilion no sound, worked fine the other day?

OK... I was just going crazy looking for the same solution. I had let the Verizon guy hook everything up for me (It's a desktop) after I changed offices. He hooked up the plug to match the color of an input on the computer, but he had plugged it into the WRONG one.. heheh... If you have access to the back of your computer - be sure it's plugged in correctly there. (Other plug ins I tried gave me very low sound) My computer - an HP pavillion has two orange inputs - not near each other - but the other one has a little pic of speaker. (LOL).... or (CQ - chuckle quietly)...

Polk Audio Speakers

hi Hubbell2008
And Happy Holidays
well, as you can see depending on your audio card, and output power, and sound settings on control panel, if is all up, or down.
you can try that first. But if not work is and Audio Card, type of power output, ....in that case you can change your audio card, if an onboard audio, place a PCI and will be ok, Creative labs models makes diff.
