I mistakenly open the top cover of my Pioneer Media Receiver PDP-R04U to dust off and now it would not start. I heard that I would need to reset the box via the remote control but I don't have the code to do so. Can somebody help to give the code to restart this system.
Product Info: Pioneer Elite TV PDP-4340HD which comes with a Media receiver PDP-R04U and a Remote control AXD1478.
Many thanks!
To reset you need to unplug the power from the wall for 2-3 minutes. Have a manual for future issues for you. PG 106 for more troubleshooting issues..

Tools you will need: PC with serial port, serial cable (straight-through VERY important; one end must be D-sub 9-pin for MR), VT100 terminal emulator (I used HyperTerminal in Windows), AXD1478 remote for TV.
Plug in MR (assuming plasma is connected also) to power outlet. Connect serial cable to MR and PC. Start HT in Windows. Give it any name and icon. Setup to connect using serial port (COM1 for me). Setup port settings to Baud:38400, Bits:8, Parity:None, Stop:1, Flow control:None. Disconnect and go to Properties -> Settings -> Emulation: VT100. OK to exit Properties. Leave HT window open.
Take Pioneer remote and point at lower right corner of plasma (SR IR sensor). Press the Display button. Wait 3 - 4 seconds. Press left arrow, up arrow, left arrow, and right arrow in sequence each for one second. Then press the power button. Panel should turn on.
Press Muting button until you get to the Initialize mode. Press up arrow until you get to UART Select setting. Press left arrow until you get to 38400-232C. Press Muting button until you get back to the Information mode.
Go back to the PC and click connect on the terminal emulator. Hit Enter on your keyboard and see if you get an ERR message. If so, you are communicating. Then enter TSN (in caps) and press enter. You should get a return of TSN. Then enter CTM (in caps). You should get a return of CTM.
Now look at your MR's LEDs. They should be back to normal. Press HOME MENU on the Pioneer remote and the plasma will turn off. Enjoy!

This was the first I tried before posting. No, this will not work. I know that there is a way to reset the box with multiple key combination on the remote. Somebody did post the solution somewhere but I can't find it.
