Question about Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-P73 Digital Camera

Sony Cybershot dsc-p73 dropped

I dropped my sony cybershot dsc-p73, from waist height, while it was on, in picture-taking mode. It seems that the edge of the retractable lens housing has taken the brunt of the impact, and it will not retract. Looking at it from above, it is lop-sided, and looks as if it cannot retract becuse it is going back in crooked. Is there any way I can manually pull it back out all the way, or push it in?

Re: Sony Cybershot dsc-p73 dropped

I also dropped this camera from waist high and the lens was stuck out and would not retract or let me do anything. I ended up having it sent to Sony to replace the lens and it cost me $200. I paid $300 for the camera to begin with but to me this was the BEST camera I'd ever had and was worth it. Before repairing it, I bought a new Sony Cybershot DSC-W80 since the original one I had dropped was no longer available. I was NOT pleased with the quality of the new camera at all and it was supposed to be better than the one I dropped. That's when I decided it was worth repairing the broken one and worth the cost.

I had the same problem with my camera.  I found that changing the mode from Multi Burst to Normal allows the camera to take normal pictures.  Go to Menu and scroll over to Mode, then select Normal.
