Re: RCA OPAL M4001 MP3
The Opal has a reset hole on the back of the unit in which a toothpick (non metallic) can be inserted to reboot the player. If this does not work, I suggest that you reformat the player by using the WindowsTM format command on the unit. To reformat the memory
Right click on the device within the Explorer or My Computer window
Select the format command (full format) to reformat the internal memory of the device.

Some models have reset switches some do not. Look on the back of your mp3 there should be a tiny hole there. That is the reset switch for most opal. Other way to reset is hold power button down for 15 seconds.
If you cant find it you will have to go to the RCA website and download the latest firmware.
our firmware went bad. Just got to the RCA website. http://www.rcaaudiovideo.com/ search your make and model download the firmware. Then hook you mp3 player to usb device of your computer. After mp3 is hooked to computer Install the newly downloaded firmware.
